In this role you will be responsible for design activities, including requirements allocation, concept evaluations, trade studies, layouts, preliminary solid modeling, analyses and mass properties, development of solid models in conjunction with the performance of all necessary analyses for these designs including materials evaluations, propulsion, and flight mechanics assessments. Support will also be provided to producibility studies, cost trades, design for long term operations and maintenance, and development planning activities.
Your duties will include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the propulsion system components and assemblies. This job requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include,
•Subsystem Integration
•Lead the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of propulsion components
•Develop product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for components
•Maintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses to support systems and components
•Independently develop and provide design solutions, of varying complexity, using solid models, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products.
•Independently review requirements, from various sources (instrumentation, dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products.
•Support production meetings and manufacturing & test anomaly/discrepancy resolution
•Evaluate, select, and own the technical aspects of the procurement from the selected hardware supplier
•Provide user documentation and recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, present analysis data to engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel at technical interchange meetings and design review. Basic Qualifications:
•Experience with 1st order analysis in fluids, statics and dynamics and/or heat transfer/ thermal
•Understanding of propulsion component development and system integration
•Knowledge of Requirement development and management
•Knowledge of mechanical CAD modeling in CREO or equivalent
•Solid understanding of mechanical and propulsion engineering principals
•Desire and ability to own technical challenges through solution.
• Willingness to mentor junior engineers.
US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
Desired Skills:
•Proficient with thermal analysis
•Propulsion component development and system integration experience
•Knowledge of GD&T.
•Experience having responsibility for Mechanical hardware and systems
• Experience of model based engineering software
•Knowledge of Additive manufacturing technology
•Experience with supply chain management and subcontracts
•Ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent fields (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality…)
•Excellent verbal/written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences.
