York is seeking interns for our Summer 2025 Internship Program. The ideal York Engineering Intern is a highly motivated, proactive individual who enjoys learning and is excited about working on space hardware and real missions.  Each York Space Systems intern has the opportunity to work on York missions, while participating in a tailored engineering training program.  Each intern is provided with a dedicated Senior Engineer as a mentor and is assigned a scope bound project that is challenging yet achievable during the duration of the internship.  York encourages you to apply for any engineering discipline that interests you, this is your opportunity to experience what it would be like to work at York and discover your passion. RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Contribute to development of a high-fidelity spacecraft
  • Interface with multiple engineering disciplines and project stakeholders
  • Execute a time bound, well defined project which is of high value to York
  • Engineer mechanical design solutions for both spacecraft flight hardware and mechanical ground support equipment.
  • Create designs with DFM/DFA with rate manufacturing in mind.
  • Coordinate across engineering on clean sheet designs and design improvements.
 
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Enrollment in a 4-year degree program at an accredited university studying engineering
  • Understanding of what is needed for high-quality mechanical systems
  • Experience with Solidworks (or similar) CAD skills.
  • Experience with materials, joints, bonding and how these choices affect designs preferred.
  • Experience with manufacturing best practices for design tolerancing, fabrication methodologies and assembly.
  • Must have completed at least Freshman year of the degree program
  • Strong communicator, great team player and overall hard worker
  • Self-starter and self-motivated with a hunger to learn
  • An interest in full time employment at York Space Systems
  • Demonstrated interest in spacecraft and space systems
  • Willing and able to work in office (this is not a remote internship)
