As a member of the LoB SATCOM Engineering - Product Development Team, you will be responsible for managing activities relating to telecommunications ground and user segment technology and products.
You will work in international multidisciplinary teams that apply a ECSS based methodology for the design, development and validation of systems. Your team consists of representatives of the customer, suppliers of subsystems and other technical or program management figures. In the team you are responsible of the delivery of system engineering outputs.
This role will support the definition and development of solution requirements, designs and IVVQ deliverables across a number of bids and projects/products.
Duties:
-Technical management of project and R&D activities;
-Write and decompose system requirements and define the best method for verification;
-Develop conceptual designs and models;
-Define and manage interfaces between solution elements;
-Perform scientific analysis and predictive modelling to measure design outcomes;
-Write technical responses for customer;
-Create, manage and control design documentation (ICDs, TRSs, SSDD) as well as associated solution baselines;
-Troubleshoot the system design and provide suggestions or solutions;
-Support procurement, operations and sub-contractors in ensuring the design and development of solution elements meets the needs of the solution;
-Identify and define ground segment product and technology needs for future satellite communication services;
-Coordination of technical contributions by other organisational units, such as the Operations, Engineering and Quality, as required to ensure effective initiation and management of activities;
- attendance of periodic meetings within the LoB SATCOM, contributing to the transfer of technical knowledge and lessons learned across followed Programme.
Technical competencies:
-Experience in engineering on complex systems and solutions;
-Experience in managing technology and product development activities carried out by industry for B2G and B2B satellite communication applications;
-Knowledge of ESA and space programme design, development, verification, validation, and integration processes following ECSS;
-Knowledge of CCSDS protocols at Physical Layer, Data-Link Layer, Bundle-Layer;
- Knowledge of AIV processes for Space Missions;
-Knowledge of gateway baseband, user terminal modem and antenna technologies;
-Knowledge of free-space optical transmission technologies and systems will be considered as an asset.

Education:
-Master degree in STEM disciplines, preferably in TLC Engineering.
Additional requirements:
-Familiarities in the field of Digital Signal Processing, Modulation and Channel Coding Theory, satellite link budgets;
-Experience with IBM DOORS for requirements management;
-Knowledge of Model Based System Engineering practices and tools, such as Arcadia Capella for MBSE System Engineering Methodology;
-Experience with Ansys STK for TLC mission analysis in Phase 0/A1 Programme preferred;
-Knowledge of English Language at proficient level;
-Team player with communication skills and able to work in multidisciplinary teams.
