Omitron, Inc. is looking for a Product Owner to join our team in our Colorado Springs, CO office. This person will lead the AGILE and SCRUM efforts for the SOLACE project which is focused on development of key astrodynamics applications used to support the US Space Force’s Space Situational Awareness (SSA) and Space Domain Awareness (SDA) mission areas.  These applications will generally replicate and modernize existing legacy applications.  This software project will require the implementation of an AGILE development approach.  This position will require candidates to be in our offices HYBRID-to-FULL TIME as necessary for project success.

Responsibilities:
  • Create a user-centric capabilities-focused vision for the SOLACE project.
  • Coordinate, plan and execute AGILE ceremonies for the SOLACE project to include program increment planning cycles, scrum planning and retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
  • Provide acceptance criteria for SOLACE software goals.
  • Capture and advocate for stakeholder needs among developers and managers.
  • Articulate Space Situational Awareness and Space Domain Awareness capability needs to stakeholders and developers.
  • Support the small development team by augmenting skill gaps as necessary.  These gaps may include any of the following: software development, software testing, document generation, and user training.
  • Advocate for astrodynamics software accuracy and usability
  • Coordinate with lateral development and user teams to ensure maximum synergy between concurrent development efforts.
  • Coordinate with the SOLACE Lead Engineer to focus development efforts on the most value-added software capabilities.
  • Support the Project Manager in administrative and management tasks relevant to the SOLACE team such as annual appraisals for the SOLACE team, timecard approvals, and other necessary personnel management functions.
Minimum Requirements:
  • Security Clearance Required: Top Secret with SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Space Operations, or a related field with 6 or more years of operational experience in software development and/or astrodynamics engineering.
  • Experience in AGILE software development team management.
  • Experience in one of the following: Astrodynamics Software Development, SSA or SDA Operations, or technical software development using an AGILE philosophy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Advanced skillset in time management and task prioritization.
  • Passion for creating innovative solutions in a narrow field of operations.
  • Ability to multitask and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Be a self-starter with excellent time-management and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in a related field with 10 or more years of experience consisting of both software development and astrodynamics engineering.
  • Vast experience in Space Force SSA and/or SDA operations at Vandenberg SFB, Schriever SFB, or Naval Facility Dahlgren. 
  • Experience in one or more SOLACE team competencies such as software development (Java, FORTRAN, C++, and/or Python), software testing, technical training, or technical documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with experience in coordinating among users, engineers, and managers.
  • Certification in relevant AGILE functionality such as SCRUM or PRODUCT OWNER

Compensation and Benefits:
The salary range for this role is $150,000 to $210,000, depending on relevant experience, location, and other factors.
