Maxar is currently seeking a Sr. Composite Assembly Production Technician who is highly motivated and dedicated to join our Composites Technology team in Palo Alto, CA location.

In this role, you will manufacture Composite Components and Assemblies for internal and external Maxar’s customers.

Responsibilities

•Perform complicated lay-ups, including lay-ups requiring complex tooling.

•Utilize special techniques of working material to eliminate wrinkles and achieve tight compacted lay-ups.

•Utilize complex vacuum bagging techniques to help achieve a better quality part, including vacuum bagging using pleats to insure minimal bridging and tight radius’s lay-ups, as well as vacuum bagging with minimum bag and/or support material wrinkles for a better part appearance.

•Utilize Photogrammetry, Theodolites, Laser projectors and applicable software for contour, lay up on tool, characterization, and fixture alignment.

•Assist and teach less-experienced employees.

•Utilize complicated blueprints and perform some development work.

Minimum Requirements

•Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.

•High school education or the equivalent.

•Minimum of 4 years of experience in lay-up and bonding.

•Read and interpret engineering specifications and Composite Manufacturing Instructions (CMI’s).

•Knowledge of standard shop measurement tools such as scales, dial calipers and micrometers.

•Experienced in the use of equipment such as hand drills, drill presses, band saws and grinders.

•Knowledge of computers and Windows operating systems.

•Adhesive bonding certified.

Preferred Qualifications

•Two years of technical or engineering training.

To accommodate all locations, we have listed the bottom to the top of the possible range, and will share the target range for a specific location during the recruiting discussion. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidates unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$21.09 - $44.92 hourly.
