Senior Thermal Protection System Materials and Process Engineer - New Glenn

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration heavy-lift launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to Earth’s orbit and beyond. Engineered with a reusable first stage and a seven-meter payload fairing, New Glenn is building the road to space.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you’ll contribute to the development and implementation of thermal protection systems (TPS) materials and processes. You will leverage your knowledge and expertise to refine processes, support design for manufacturing and assembly, conduct testing, and transition these processes to the TPS manufacturing unit. You will also troubleshoot issues related to the production, integration, and refurbishment of thermal protection systems.

You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of reusable launch vehicles. We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required!

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or science discipline

• 6+ years of experience in related field

• Familiarity with TPS materials state-of-the-art, especially flexible insulation blankets

• Experience with production activities, non-conformance, root-cause analysis, troubleshooting, and performing engineering analysis.

• Familiarity with silicone adhesive and bonding processes.

• Take ownership of work and operate under minimal direction.

• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

• 8+ years of experience in the areas of thermal protection system development, testing, and data analysis

• Hands on experience with TPS material manufacturing process.

• Experience with Creo (Pro/E), Windchill 10, and Ansys

• Experience working directly with structural and design engineers.
