Job description
USRA is seeking an Intern (Data Analyst) in support of Marshall Space Flight Center’s Land Use/Cover Change Science, Research and Products in Asia and World task. The intern will assist in spatial data analysis useful for land cover analysis. The intern will assist in the pre and post-processing of remotely sensed data using various tools such as Python, Matlab, Java script, and remote sensing software. Also, the candidate will help in delivering reports on scientific analysis.
Required Qualifications:
- Good programming and data analysis skills in Python, MATLAB, JAVA Script, IDL, or similar.
- Statistical data analysis using R and any other software.
- Experience using Remote Sensing and GIS software (ERDAS, ENVI, QGIS, ArcGIS, etc. Or any other) desirable but not mandatory
- Well-organized, good level of independence, and ability to analyze data independently.
- Previous experience in data analysis projects desirable but not mandatory.
- Ability to write reports and project summaries.
Education: Bachelor’s degree either complete or ongoing in Remote Sensing, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Sciences, Environmental Science, Biology, Ecology, Geography, Remote Sensing, or a related academic field.
Working Conditions: This job operates in a professional office. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. This is largely a sedentary role.
