Northrop Grumman Space Systems (NGSP) is looking for you to join our team on the Specialized Warfighter Development Contract (SWDC) program as a Cyber Software Engineer based out of Schriever AFB, CO. Position will be on-site at the AFB with potential to conduct some work at our COCO5 location in the Northern part of Colorado Springs.

What You’ll Get to Do:

In this role, the Cyber Software Engineer develops software products to meet cyber requirements or provide cyber capabilities targeted for current and future potential programs.  You will also be responsible for integrating these products into deployed systems for our customers and ensuring the products meet customer expectations through bug fixes and capability extensions.

Be part of our Agile development team using modern development practices in a DevOps environment. Develop products mainly using C++, with some opportunities to leverage Java and/or Python programming.  You’ll utilize the Atlassian product suite, including Jira and Confluence.  Our small but highly energized Agile Scrum team has a significant development effort with a large impact.  Please consider joining us and thrive within our fast-paced software development team! Essential Functions:

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems (e.g., processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of extremely large data sets, real-time systems, and business management information systems) based upon documented requirements.
  • Review and test software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results
  • Resolve Software problem reports
  • Utilize software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment
  • Provide specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components
  • This position will also act in a 50% capacity utilizing standard DevOps functions to include the following:
    • Integrates development pipelines leveraging automation with test-driven development tools and continuous integration/test frameworks.
    • Define and implement the build, deployment, provisioning, and monitoring standards for the program.
    • Ensures implementation of Software Configuration Management (SCM), code quality, and code coverage with automated testing for Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.

This position can be filled at the Cyber Software Engineer level or the Principal Cyber Software Engineer level.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidate MUST have a current and active SECRET clearance
  • Candidate MUST have a current IAT level II (or higher) certification (i.e. Security+)
  • For a Cyber Software Engineer: Associates degree with 4+ years of relevant experience, Bachelor’s degree with 2 + years of relevant experience; 0 years with a Master's; or 6 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree
  • For a Principal Cyber Software Engineer: Associates degree with 7+ years of relevant experience, Bachelor’s degree with 5 + years of relevant experience; 3 years with a Master's; 0 years with a PhD; or 9 additional years of experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Ability to analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements
  • Ability to design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features
  • Ability to debug existing software and correct defects
  • Windows Server 2019 or later versions administration
  • SQL 2019 or later versions administration, including backup
  • Active Directory design and implementation
  • IIS administration and troubleshooting
  • Microsoft Windows clustering
  • SAN operations and maintenance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Java Development * JavaScript * SQL
  • Solid understanding of system back up and restoration
  • Scripting language (VBScript, PowerShell, Cscript, etc) knowledge
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all levels of employees and management"
  • Continuous Integration / Continuous Development pipeline experience
  • Building applications using Jenkins or Jenkins like tools
  • Manage containers using container orchestrator Docker, Kubernetes (K8s) preferred
  • Build custom scripts to automate tasks using Ansible, Node.js or Java

Salary Range: $87,200.00 - $130,800.00Salary Range 2: $107,300.00 - $160,900.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
