The Payload and Ground Systems organization within the Northrop Grumman Space Systems pushes the boundaries of innovation, redefines engineering capabilities, and drives advances in various sciences. For this role, responsibilities include but are not limited to: Define, develop, and deliver novel AI/ML solutions related to signal processing, satellite technologies, and other domain areas. Apply machine learning algorithms to large sets of structured and unstructured data to solve a broad range of problems that include applications in pattern recognition, target detection and tracking, machine learning and decision systems, and robotic systems. Prototypes advanced artificial intelligence techniques to stretch the capability of autonomous systems research and development programs. Design, develop, document, test, and debugs software and system applications that contain logical and mathematical solutions. Ensure industry best practices and standards are applied and maintained. . May use system-of-systems and multi-agent approaches to architect and design AI software systems. Work closely with system engineers to understand program intent, system capabilities, and

output requirements. May design software-systems, applications, and data architectures that directly implement AI techniques to support achieving better reliability, precision, accuracy, and speed to meet performance requirements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Level 2: Bachelor's degree with 2+ years of relative experience; Masters degree with 0+ years of relative experience.
  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relative experience; Masters degree with 3+ years of relative experience; PHD with 0+ year of relative experience.
  • STEM degree in artificial intelligence, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, mathematics, modeling and simulation, operations research, physics, statistics, or systems engineering.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance once you start work. Experience with PyTorch, Keras, R, or Tensorflow.
  • Experience working in Python.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with AI technologies, frameworks, and methodologies.
  • Experience with Git-based software management tools.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Experience working in C/C++, Java, and MATLAB.
  • Experience with Git-based software management tools.
  • Experience in algorithmic application development and optimization.
  • Knowledge of signal processing and ground satellite systems.
  • Experience with open software/system architecture solutions.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems.
  • Experience with microservice containerization.

Salary Range: $108,200.00 - $162,200.00Salary Range 2: $133,500.00 - $200,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
