Job description

The Senior DevOps Engineer will play a critical role in optimizing our CI/CD pipelines, automating infrastructure and deployment processes, and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our systems. This role requires a deep understanding of DevOps practices, strong technical skills, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of DevOps professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pipeline Optimization: Design, build, and optimize CI/CD pipelines to streamline development and deployment processes. Ensure high availability and reliability of development, testing, and production environments.
  • Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment. Leverage automation to enhance operational efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee the management of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure), ensuring scalability, security, and cost-effectiveness. Implement infrastructure-as-code practices using tools like Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation.
  • Monitoring and Performance: Implement and manage monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure the health and performance of applications and infrastructure. Analyze performance metrics and take proactive measures to address issues.
  • Collaboration and Mentorship: Work closely with development, QA, and IT teams to ensure alignment and integration of DevOps practices. Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to junior DevOps engineers.
  • Security and Compliance: Integrate security practices into DevOps workflows, including implementing access controls, managing secrets, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Incident Management: Lead incident response and troubleshooting efforts for production issues. Develop and maintain incident response plans and conduct post-incident reviews to prevent future occurrences.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain thorough documentation of DevOps processes, infrastructure configurations, and automation workflows. Prepare and present reports on DevOps performance and improvements to senior management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in DevOps engineering or a similar role.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • CI/CD: Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD).
  • Cloud Platforms: Hands-on experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure.
  • Automation Tools: Familiarity with automation tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Collaboration: Effective communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in DevOps roles, with a strong track record of managing complex systems.
  • Advanced Skills: Expertise in advanced DevOps tools and practices, including containerization (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Security: Knowledge of security practices in DevOps and experience with tools for security automation.
  • Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert).
  • Industry Experience: Experience in aerospace or technology sectors is highly desirable.
