Job description
As a Test and Automation Engineer, you will develop software and support tests for all kinds of devices, from engine components to entire vehicles. You will gather data acquisition and control requirements, write test software, setup devices, and support testing operations, while utilizing and building on top of the test software infrastructure. You will work directly with test engineers, propulsion engineers, GNC engineers, and others. You will have the opportunity to contribute to all the stages of spacecraft development, from testing initial prototypes to ensuring quality in manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Develop, deploy, and own data acquisition and control system software in support of liquid rocket propulsion and spacecraft systems testing
- Work with stakeholders to gather requirements for data acquisition and control
- Find ways to continuously improve the user experience of interfacing with the software
- Develop drivers for instruments and devices to plug into our LabVIEW software framework
- Invest in and utilize a common software stack (drivers, software framework, data warehouse, etc.) across test programs
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelorβs degree in any relevant engineering field
- 2+ years of demonstrated experience writing software (Python, LabVIEW, C/C++, or any other relevant language)
- Familiarity with LabVIEW
- Experience with source control tools, such as git
- Relentless curiosity, and a desire to learn
- Demonstrated ability of taking project ownership and working well in small teams
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Demonstrated experience developing a data acquisition and control system using LabVIEW
- Experience writing software to control instruments such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.
- Experience working with NI hardware, and/or Beckhoff hardware
- Deep understanding of object-oriented best practices, such as SOLID
- Experience working with actor-oriented software frameworks, such as the LabVIEW frameworks DQMH, Workers, or Actor Framework
- Proficiency with Linux
- Experience in a startup or agile development environment
- Experience safely operating hazardous systems (high voltage, high pressure, etc)
Additional Information:
Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity. In addition to base salary, for full-time hires, you may also be eligible for long-term incentives, in the form of stock options, and access to medical, vision & dental coverage as well as access to a 401(k) retirement plan.
