Position Purpose: The Director of Quality is responsible for developing and refining quality strategies in alignment with the company's strategic goals and customer requirements.  They will oversee all quality activities in Blue Canyon, including those related to hardware quality, supplier quality, calibration, receiving inspection and in-process inspection. The Director of Quality will build relationships across departments and establish trust to collaborate effectively across all functional areas of business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Define, document and maintain the Quality Management System requirements at the BCT company level.
  • Ensure continued ISO9001 Certification, including owning the Internal Audit program, leading Management Review activities, acting as Management Representative per the AS9100 standard, and assisting Leadership team with maintaining compliance.
  • Promote a Quality mindset across the company and help drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Represent BCT Quality interests externally, including interfacing with customers, suppliers, regulatory agencies and the larger aerospace environment.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership for planning, execution, and management of critical business performance, process improvements, and other strategic initiatives.
  • Guide Hardware Quality Engineers and Inspectors in identifying and assessing risks, root cause analysis and corrective action for non-conformances, facilitating improvements and supporting production.
  • Oversee supplier quality performance with focus on risk assessment and mitigation, including qualifying new suppliers and tracking performance of existing suppliers.
  • Lead, participate, and/or facilitate investigations into root causes and corrective actions for any quality or process issues.
  • Manage the calibration system to remain in compliance with ISO9001 while supporting production needs.
  • Manage Quality team personnel – goal setting, employee performance/feedback, career development, program assignments, staffing needs/hiring, etc. - with a focus on strategic goal setting and execution. Forecast and maintain department budget.
  • Lead business level risk and opportunity board.
  • Champion CORE training, principles, and implementation.
  • Support and advocate for a consistent focus on continuous improvement with a system wide view.

Required Qualifications/Education:

  • BS/BA in a technical Preference given to an Engineering or Science degree. At least 15 years related experience with 5+ years in a leadership role. Master’s degree or advanced certification is a plus (i.e., CMQ/OE, Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, CQE).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in electronics and mechanical hardware quality assurance methods (inspection, test, analysis).
  • Proven leadership in successful certifications to ISO 9001 and AS 9100 Quality Standards.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a detail-oriented mindset.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively across all levels of an organization and with external partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change and implement company-wide initiatives effectively.
  • Experience in managing employees in a diverse functional
  • Experience in implementation of a multi-layered and highly effective Corrective Action Board
  • Proven experience increasing company efficiencies and
  • Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education.


Working Conditions:

This job operates in a professional office environment, but in a manufacturing company. This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines.  BCT anticipates the application window closing approximately 40 days from the date the notice was posted.
