About The Position

Intuitive Machines is seeking a CNC Machinist to join our team. This position will support the production and manufacturing of aerospace components for our Lunar Lander and other relevant hardware for our upcoming IM2 and IM3 missions. The ideal candidate will possess machining expertise on specialized space parts and hardware. This role is crucial in ensuring the structural integrity and precision of components designed for space missions.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzing specification charts, samples and drawings to gain a thorough understanding of requirements
  • Work with Engineers to communicate needs, tolerances, manufacturability and timeline
  • Developing a plan of action to manufacture parts according to specifications
  • Measuring and marking raw materials needed to manufacture parts
  • Setting up equipment required to complete each step of the manufacturing plan
  • Operating equipment to carry out each step correctly
  • Monitoring the production process and intervening when problems arise
  • Inspecting finished parts for flaws and defects
  • Maintaining equipment located throughout the machine shop

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field – high school diploma or GED is also applicable with years of experience
  • 5+ years of experience programming and operating CNC Lathe
  • Proficiency with design software: CREO, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360
  • Knowledge of how to operate grinders, lathes, mills, drills, etc.
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to develop effective manufacturing plans based on specifications and drawings
  • Problem-solving skills to troubleshoot issues that arise during the manufacturing process
  • Ability to move roughly 50 to 75 pounds and remain at your workstation throughout the day
  • Understanding of health and safety regulations to reduce the risk of workplace accidents

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Additional experience with CNC Mills and Wire EDM a plus.
  • Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience with the use of work orders, drawings and solid models.
  • Familiarity with standard practices for fabricating and manufacturing any number of parts from a variety of materials including but not limited to Aluminum, Steel, Titanium, Inconel and Carbon Fiber.
  • Previous work experience within the aerospace or defense industry
  • Familiarity with commonly used space and commercial specifications for materials, processes, fasteners, mechanical components, connectors, wiring, etc.
