Position Overview (Summary/Objective):
As part of our Defense Systems Assembly Group, the Assembly Manufacturing Technician will have the exciting opportunity to work with high precision electrical products. This position is at the front line of our semiconductor device fabrication process and in this role, the technician will have the opportunity to be mentored and work hands-on in a lab environment within a growing and evolving aerospace company.
Responsibilities:
In this position, you will be responsible for:
- Providing technical guidance – Emphasizing quality and safety and fostering a rigorous technical discipline to meet the requirements of high value aerospace parts.
- Applying lean techniques to support operational excellence, program execution and the organizations goals and objectives.
- Oversight of equipment including working with equipment operators and maintenance personnel in support of equipment performance and operating documentation.
- Supporting Capital acquisition planning
- Planning, monitoring and troubleshooting manufacturing operations related to circuit cards, mechanical and electro-optical assemblies
- Reviewing and approving product designs and drawings for manufacturability and identifying tooling and fixture requirements
- Designing, reviewing, and approving tooling and fixtures and developing the processes for using them
- Developing and maintaining work instructions and manufacturing process documentation
- Ensuring manufacturing processes are capable of meeting approved design requirements and revising or developing new processes as required.
- Working in a cross-functional team while developing and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers and suppliers.
Basic Qualifications:
Education Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering; a concentration in Electrical Engineering is preferred
Experience Required:
- 5-10 years of electric or mechanical engineering assembly experience
- Planning, monitoring and troubleshooting manufacturing operations related to circuit cards, mechanical, and electro-optical assemblies
- Reviewing and approving product designs and drawings for manufacturability and identifying tooling and fixture requirements
- Designing, reviewing, and approving tooling and fixtures and developing the processes for using them
- Developing and maintaining work instructions and manufacturing process documentation
- Understanding of facility and assembly process development including capacity planning and project management
- Self-disciplined, with the ability to lead problem solving teams and drive results through the implementation of standard work, process certification and other root-cause corrective action tools
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and escalate issues as required.
- Familiarity with IPC J-Standard (IPC J-STD-001) and NASA Standards (NASA-STD 8739.x)
- Able to interpret and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Knowledge of CAD and working with 3D models
- Understanding of common measurement and inspection equipment such as torque wrenches, multimeters, calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, thread gauges, CMM’s, etc.
- Basic understanding of general machining processes and capabilities
- Strong prioritization and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently while maintaining a high degree of flexibility.
- Well versed in MS Office Suite; Word and Excel required
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in the aerospace or defense industry
- ACE, Six Sigma, and/or equivalent management system experience
- PTC Creo Parametric experience
- Experiencing interfacing with a ERP system is a plus
- Experience with paperless manufacturing systems
- Experience with laser or optical sensing systems
- Experience with CCA board design and fabrication
- Experience with Cabling or Harness fabrication
