Junior Staff Accountant 

 

Position Overview

We are seeking an organized, detail-oriented Junior Accountant with a strong Accounts Payable background to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in managing and processing invoices, ensuring timely payments, reconciling general ledger accounts and maintaining accurate records. Familiarity with Bill.com and QuickBooks is essential to streamline and enhance our current processes.   

 

This position reports to the Corporate Controller and is onsite in Titusville, FL.

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • Processing employee expense reports, verifying that expenses are within company guidelines, correcting errors, questioning abnormal expenditures, and reconciling amounts in QuickBooks.
  • Reconcile bank statements with the company’s financial records to ensure accuracy.
  • Support the preparation of tax filings and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
  • Support the accounting team in financial analysis and budget preparation.
  • Review and verify invoices for appropriate documentation and approval before payment. 
  • Process invoices and payments via Bill.com and ensure accurate data entry into QuickBooks. 
  • Reconcile accounts payable transactions and prepare analysis of accounts. 
  • Monitor accounts to ensure timely payments and address any discrepancies or queries. 
  • Maintain vendor files, including setting up new vendors in the system and updating information as necessary. 
  • Prepare and perform check runs, electronic transfers, and ACH payments.
  • Produce monthly and ad-hoc accounts payable reports. 
  • Collaborate with other departments to resolve purchase order, contract, invoice, or payment discrepancies. 
  • Ensure adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures. 
  • Assist with month-end closing activities. 
  • Stay updated on the latest functionalities and best practices related to Bill.com and QuickBooks. 
  • Provide support during audits related to general ledger and accounts payable.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 0-2 years of experience in accounting or finance; internships or relevant work experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Bill.com, MPR systems).
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team. Ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities and business needs.
