Redwire Space has a current opportunity in Jacksonville, Florida for a Staff Payroll Accountant with expertise in payroll processing and accounting. In this role as a Payroll Staff Accountant, you will support all payroll functions to provide assurance that the company is operating efficiently, effectively and economically; maintaining compliance with laws, regulations and policies; safeguarding assets; maintaining reliability and integrity of computer-generated data; and sustaining appropriate revenue management.
 
Summary of Role
  • Hybrid = 3 days in the Jacksonville office, 2 days working remotely.
  • Ensure payroll information is aligned with timekeeping source systems.
  • Importing, proofing, editing, and transmitting all payroll wages, bonuses, deductions, etc., consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws for multiple states.
  • Ensure that payroll is submitted and processed with the appropriate backup and respecting deadlines.
  • Maintain payroll files and backup consistent with the company policy.
  • Review new hire setups to ensure correct rates and deductions during payroll processing.
  • Review final checks for employees leaving the company to ensure correct rates and deductions during payroll processing.
  • Process garnishments in a timely manner, responding to both the garnishing agency and the employee being garnished.
  • Assist with payouts of special pay programs.
  • Complete account reconciliations for payroll related accounts.
  • Calculate and research Federal, State and local payroll tax liability as well as update changes.
  • Assist with year-end payroll tasks.
  • Respond to any payroll inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Communicate regularly with employees at all levels of the organization about payroll practices.
  • Establish and maintain a reliable and productive relationship with remote locations.
  • Review all payroll practices on a regular basis to ensure we are within state and federal compliance.
  • Create and run payroll reports as required and requested.
Ideal Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
  • 2-4 years of accounting and/or payroll experience.
  • Create general journal entries for payroll related transactions.
  • Fundamental knowledge of GAAP.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel knowledge: pivot tables and lookup formulas.
  • US Citizen or US Person as defined by ITAR regulations
Desired Skills
  • Deltek CostPoint ERP system experience strongly preferred.
  • Assist in processing payroll, from start to finish, ensuring that all employees are paid in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Attention to details.
  • Government Contracting or Aerospace and Defense experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail and deadline mindset.
  • Ability to maintain sensitive and confidential information.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to use judgement in unknown or difficult situations.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and positive relationship-building skills.
