Job Overview & Responsibilities

Member of the Launch Operations Engineering and Infrastructure Department whose responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance and operation of mission critical cranes (10, 20, 25 ton, 50, 53, 65, 120 ton), and mechanized solid/fabric doors for launch facilities and installations supporting ULAโ€™s Vulcan and Atlas V programs at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, Camp Blanding, Florida and Vandenberg Air Force Base, California. Position will be located at CCSFS.
  • Direction of maintenance technicians and contractor for facility elevators (rack and pinion, traction) servicing the launch sites and personnel support buildings.
  • Oversight of contractor installations of new crane/trolley systems and associated controls within a new launch Vertical Integration Facility.
  • On-site support of high-value aerospace flight hardware lift and mate operations.
  • Operational field support, troubleshooting, and experience maintaining crane, elevator or similar large movable structural mechanisms and their associated control systems.
  • Plan, manage and execute both recurring maintenance and systems upgrade projects.
  • Direct internal technicians and/or external vendors, in accordance with construction design documentation including all applicable regulations, standards, codes and ordinances.
  • Responsible for the creation of new documentation, and maintenance of existing documentation used to direct technicians and subcontractors.

Bachelor

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 8 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 4 years of directly related experience and relevant professional certifications may be used to satisfy the bachelor's degree requirement.
  • Electromechanical background with a willingness to support off-shift operations as mission needs dictate.
  • Proven ability to direct crane operations, lifting of flight critical hardware, and preventive maintenance.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of troubleshooting techniques applied to large cranes, elevators (rack and pinion, traction), and large mechanical (vertical lift, folding fabric and bi-parting steel) door issues.
  • Experience with crane load testing, elevator testing, and certification of same.
  • Knowledge of control systems and programmable logic controllers, limit switches, etc., as applied to cranes and elevators.
  • Project management experience for contracted work efforts dealing with annual maintenance, mission support and emergent problems.
  • Cognizant of US Space Force, Federal and State regulatory, compliance and industry standards and certifying requirements to ensure product and/or service is in compliance such as tailored AFSPCMAN 91-710 and EWR 127-1 Range Safety Requirements, OSHA1910.179, 1926.552, ANSI/ASME A17.1, NFPA 70e, NEC codes, CMAA 70, ASME B30.2 to ensure product and/or service is in compliance.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communication skills, proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Power point).
  • Experience using Revit, AutoCAD or similar package.
