EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for MTS 3 – Hardware in our Hughes Network Systems division. This position is located in our San Diego, CA office.

Job Responsibilities:

  • EchoStar has an exciting opportunity for an MTS 3 - Hardware in our Hughes Network Systems division.
  • Plan, lead and implement portions of the overall systems design comprising of the Radio Frequency (RF) circuitry and components required for the satellite modems employed in the company’s broadband network operations, to include taking responsibility for performance validation and testing.
  • Act as a primary engineering liaison to external vendors and interact with these parties to establish the testing processes necessary to validate the RF performance of the company’s satellite modem circuit boards.
  • Plan and execute the engineering analysis to establish the functional requirements for the circuitry and systems under development to allow for the optimal selection of parts, components, and design processes to best meet these requirements.
  • Plan the use of LabView software and similar tools to execute RF testing and validation for electrical components under development; update existing LabView code and develop new LabView codes to run Physical Layer tests across multiple satellite modem products.
  • Plan and implement the use of circuit simulation and related software tools in the design process and be responsible for the high-speed signal integrity analysis throughout the circuit design and development process.
  • Coordinate electrical engineering design efforts with the relevant software/firmware design teams to identify and resolve emerging issues on baseband circuitry.
  • Work closely with software/firmware teams to design and run System Verification Test (SVT) plans to measure LTE and satellite performances on the company’s hybrid modem products.
  • Be responsible for locating, qualifying and resolving RF issues at the systems level of satellite modem circuit boards to include signal integrity analysis throughout the RF chain.
  • Provide electrical engineering analysis and guidance to resolve high-level process and product problems that may impact overall circuit development operations; recommend new concepts and approaches to management to improve the quality of the circuit-products.
  • Execute product failure analysis at the systems level, provide root-cause analysis with full documentation and recommendations to the management team for solutions.

Basic Requirements: 

  • Master’s degree in an Electrical Engineering field and 6 months of qualifying experience in the job offered or in a related electrical engineering position. 
  • As an alternative, a Bachelor’s degree in an Electrical Engineering field with 5 years of qualifying experience in the job offered or in a related electrical engineering position will be acceptable.

Special Requirements: 

  • Six months of experience performing radio frequency and signal integrity testing and analysis.
  • Six months of experience drafting electrical engineering schematics to support RF or Microwave circuit design.
  • Six months of experience employing LabView

Compensation range:

Annual salary:  $157,206 to $157,206

Will be eligible for discretionary bonus, with funding based on company performance.
