Duties

  • Develop and implement strategic plans using digital tactics to support the agency's communication goals. This involves staying on top of trends and making recommendations to ensure NASA remains at the forefront of the digital media landscape.
  • Support the team to plan, organize, direct, gather, coordinate, produce, write, and edit products, and disseminate public information regarding NASA activities that are released to the public on digital platforms.
  • Serve as a spokesperson on behalf of the Digital and Technology Division at meetings, public outreach events, and working groups - in a virtual or hybrid environment.
  • Manage the Digital and Technology Division's budget and resources. This involves allocating resources effectively to achieve communication goals, keeping projects on track, and serving as the contract task manager.
  • Provide consultation and digital communications guidance to internal and external NASA audiences, including senior officials, communications staff, commercial partners, and other government agencies.
  • Contribute to the selection and application of appropriate problem-solving methods and techniques, and coordinate initiatives, policy implementation, and consensus building.
  • Assist the division director with administrative tasks, such as developing performance plans, managing editorial calendars, and updating digital guidance.
  • Perform a full range of supervisory duties which includes assigning and evaluating work; recommending personnel actions; taking disciplinary actions; and identifying training needs and developing employees.

Qualifications

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.

To qualify for GS-14, you must have one year of directly related specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level:
  • Designing, establishing, configuring, and customizing digital products or technologies to integrate with digital platforms to provide a seamless experience for key audience segments;
  • Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing to prepare reports and assessments and articulating differing viewpoints to make recommendations to stakeholders for digital campaigns;
  • Participating in or leading a team to solve problems, prioritize decisions, and ensure accuracy while concurrently managing multiple assignments in a fast pace, breaking news environment.
