About the Role

As the Security Director at Sierra Space, you'll lead the strategy and oversight of our program and physical security operations across our organization.

Your responsibilities for program security will include overseeing all business area security activities in support of current and future classified contracts, including those under National Industrial Security Program (NISP), the Intelligence Community (IC), the activities that involve collateral, Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP).

Will be responsible for the Company’s physical security program, including the strategic planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive physical security policies and procedures to protect organizational assets, employees, and facilities across the U.S.

Your proactive approach will drive corporate security processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and compliance. You'll develop and manage security budget and personnel and ensure robust stakeholder relationships to support business development. Upholding Sierra Space's leadership principles and Company policies, as well as prioritizing your team's professional growth, are critical components of your role. Your role is essential in preserving the program and physical security posture of Sierra Space, and your guidance will be pivotal in charting a secure and compliant path forward for the organization.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance is required  

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience. Relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education. 

  • Proven security leadership experience in a private sector environment 

  • Superior physical security knowledge such as security technology (cameras, access control, surveillance cameras, intrusion detection etc.), conducting and managing investigations, threat and crisis assessment and management. Expert knowledge of NISP (CFR 32 Part 117), providing oversight and guidance in SCI, SAP, NISPOM, COMSEC, OPSEC, and ITAR to include experience in managing related industrial security database driven systems such as CCURE, JADE, and Scattered Castles is required.

  • Must have good working knowledge of SCIF operations from design through accreditation, including ICD705 standards.

  • Demonstrated competency of Director of National Intelligence (DNI) security policies and regulations. Minimum 10 years in leading roles, managing DoD or IC security programs with international exposure.

  • Strong leadership adapting to change, mentoring, strategic thinking, and policy development in a geographically dispersed and matrixed organization.

  • Excellent communication, decision-making abilities.

  • Skilled in team building and ability to interpret and judiciously apply regulatory guidelines.

  • Proven experience in building a professional network across the security industry to include military and intelligence agencies and local, state and federal law enforcement or other governmental agencies as required.

  • Ability to travel up to 20%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Typically 10-12 years of relevant experience; 7+ years demonstrated experience with security policies and regulations in a private sector environment 

  • Higher-level degree may substitute for required education

  • Existing relationships with security counterparts within the space acquisition agencies, including but not limited to Space Systems Command (SSC), National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), the Space rapid Capabilities Office (SpRCO), and Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL)

  • Demonstrated passion for ideation, intellectual curiosity, and innovation, as well as motivating others to act by creating a shared sense of vision or purpose 

  • Proven long-term and strategic perspective that extends beyond the immediate initiatives; visualizes and articulates a clear direction 

  • Team oriented with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision 

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense (Civilian), NASA/Civil or commercial space and/or US Military, with an understanding of defense, aerospace, intelligence, and adjacent markets. SAP Mid-level training through CDSE 

  • Professional certifications such as ISP, SFPC, SAPPC, SPSC, ISOC, or PSC 

  • Proven leadership skills with exceptional analytical and problem-solving experience 

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

This position requires current/active Top Secret with SCI eligibility U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance for employment. Non-U.S. Citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance.  The Department of Defense Consolidated Adjudications Facility (DoD CAF), a federal government agency, handles the adjudicative aspects of the security clearance eligibility process for industry applicants. Adjudicative factors which affect the outcome of the eligibility determination include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the U.S., foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and illegal drug use.

Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.

Estimated Starting Salary Range:

$186,100.35 - $255,887.98
