We’re on the hunt for a Buyer-Planner I on our Satellite systems team at our Montreal office.

Responsible for the material requirement planning, negotiation and purchasing of material and services that are simple in nature, with due consideration of cost, quality and delivery within the specified limits and in accordance with the signing levels identified.  Capable of procuring items included in overhead costs, building services, capital expenses and standard items and components  available on the commercial, military and space market. Receives specific assignments with periodic supervision.

 

Tasks:

  • Analyze MRP messages and take appropriate actions
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers
  • Analyze received quotes and place purchase orders within established limits of authority
  • Perform follow-up activities on purchase order and shipment tracking information to ensure on-time deliveries
  • Proactively report material availability issues
  • Prepare and communicate procurement plans or forecasts to suppliers
  • Understand market trends of assigned commodities
  • Resolve receiving and invoicing discrepancies
  • Review and implement engineering change notices for items included in the assigned commodities
  • Support Sales and Engineering inquiries on material availability and costs
  • Monitor and maintain the Supply Chain related Item Master Data for items included in the assigned commodities
  • Contribute to process improvement and lean initiatives related to items included in assigned commodities
  • Assist with new supplier development and qualification
  • Review monthly suppliers performance and define corrective action plan if required
  • Represent the company in meetings with sales representatives of current/future suppliers

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related area
  • PMAC enrollment or certification in progress or complete will be considered as an asset
  • 2 years of relevant experience
  • A combination of other pertinent education/experience could be considered
  • Some understanding of Export Control Regulations
  • Experience in procurement of electronic components
  • Demonstrate good organizational skills and the ability to adapt to change
  • Sense of urgency
  • Basic problem solving and decision making
  • Accountability and responsibility
  • Basic analytical and negotiating skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Customer focus (internal and external)
  • Fluent in French and English (verbal and written).

Special Considerations:

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.
