The Role:

The Senior Production Planner is responsible for ensuring best practice(s) in demand planning, inventory planning, production planning and supply planning for multiple complex programs/products. This position will work closely with the Master Scheduler, Purchasing and Logistics. The Production planner shall ensure that production schedules are created and completed on time and within budget. They will drive Continuous Improvements and provide guidance to other planners.


Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Drives & contributes to continuous improvement by suggesting and/or implementing improvements to safety, costs, reduction in frustrations, etc
• Prepare daily & weekly production schedules
• Determines production resource needs
• Issue all production orders per planned orders and production schedule
• Close and reconcile production/work orders
• Report and drive solutions on material availability issues
• Work with the Procurement specialist to solve any material shortages
• Participate with material requirement planning improvements/implementation team
• Drive, monitor & status production progress (Work In Progress) filling in any shortages
• Ensure that any unused material is returned to stock
• Prepare and maintain progress and other reports
• Create, maintain, and ensure execution of the Production Schedule
• Review long-term forecasts to identify and mitigate possible capacity/material issues and recommend appropriate action
• Work with cross functional team to coordinate operations and activities within and between departments
• Review demand and supply to understand constraints/bottleneck and propose alternative capacity or areas needing capacity improvement to meet demand
• Participate in business planning meetings to plan activities in future time periods
• Recommend stock to support a pull system for products and to reduce lead-times
• Perform ongoing analysis of weekly, monthly and future capacity to optimize product level loading and achieve manufacturing continuity during low and medium-volume months
• Read and analyze charts, production orders, production schedules and other records/ reports to determine production requirements and evaluate current production estimates and outputs
• Provide functional guidance to other planners
• Administer physical count activities with Material Stores Operators and reconcile inventory discrepancy
• Perform and justify Inventory Adjustments
• Perform other duties as required

Job Required Skills/ Abilities:
• Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing, lead business discussions and train others
• Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments
• Ability to effectively facilitate cross functional team meetings in problem solving activities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office productivity suite
• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing data and reports
• Able to find new methods and principles and ability to incorporate them into existing practices as needed
• High degree of resourcefulness, flexibility, and adaptability
• Meticulous records maintenance skills


Education and Experience:
• 10+ years' of experience in manufacturing is an asset
• Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management is an asset
• 10+ years' experience as a Production Planner is an asset
• Advanced knowledge of ERP systems related to materials, scheduling, MRP, MPS, BOM operations/processes
• Extensive knowledge of MPS/MRP, Demand Flow, JIT, Forecasting, Inventory Planning, and Kanban, would be preferred
• Hands on experience of designing/implementing PULL SYSTEMS to control shop floor work center activities and hands on knowledge/experience of working with Lean Manufacturing techniques

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP) and ITAR.

The compensation offered for this position is $ annually.
