Your Mission

The valve development engineer is part of the Fluid Control Team, which develops and purchases fluid control components like valves and regulators for the different departments at Isar Aerospace.

The task of this engineer is to develop valves from scratch to series production. This includes the collection of requirements, design calculations, CAD modelling, drawing creation, manufacturing organization, test planning, test conduction and test evaluation. First assembly of prototypes and testing also requires hands-on work in the manufacturing hall and the test site.

More specifically, you will:

  • Define requirements and specifications of the valve together with the requesting team
  • Calculate and design valves according to requirements
  • Prepare and organize the manufacturing of valves
  • Assemble your valve prototypes
  • Plan, conduct and evaluate valve tests
  • Ensure component and system performance through development testing, design iterations and post-test data review

Who you are and what you have

  • Sc. or M.Eng. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar
  • Proficiency in Python or similar programming language
  • Hands on Experience in testing preparation and operation as well as post-test data reviews
  • Experience with machining processes and drawing creation
  • Experience with CAD software (preferably Solidworks or Symens NX)
  • General knowledge about rocket design
  • Passion for rocket propulsion and space
  • Ability to effectively collaborate on multi-disciplinary and cross-functional teams
  • Highly organized and proactive with high attention to detail
  • Driven and eager to learn
  • Willingness to travel in support of launching and testing hardware
  • Fluent in English

Nice to Have:

  • Experience in valve or rocket engine development
  • Hands-on test experience with fluid systems: experience with cryogenic fluids and oxygen compatibility
  • Knowledge about technical drawing rules and material science
