Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Sr Principal Systems Software Analyst – System Integration Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be out of Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program integrates the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, to see the battle develop collectively, and to dynamically manage designated networked sensors and weapons systems to achieve global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports a layered missile defense capability that enables an optimized response to threats of all ranges in all phases of flight. C2BMC is the force multiplier that globally and regionally networks integrate, synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations to optimize performance. C2BMC is integral to all system ground and flight tests, which verify and exercise all current and future missile defense system capabilities.

The Field and Integration Test team is responsible for integrating the C2BMC system into the MDIOC C2BMC Test Facility and the Operational environment. The Integration activity ensures the install matches the Configuration Managed baseline and verifies settings and operations. The Test activity is to exercise high-level functions and capabilities to ensure no change from the test environment.

The servers and workstations are Linux- and Windows-based, using virtual servers. Integration includes troubleshooting the installed software to identify whether the system is incorrectly installed or settings are incorrect.

Essential Functions:

  • Planned, implemented, tested, documented, and maintained solutions for integrating and testing in-house developed COTS/GOTS components, elements, subsystems, and systems.
  • Synthesize customer contractual needs and requirements into system test solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Establish functional and technical specifications and standards, solve hardware/software interface problems, define input/output parameters, and ensure integration of the entire system or subsystem.
  • Review, evaluate, and derive requirements for testability, develop and direct preparation and execution of comprehensive test plans, procedures, and schedules for complete systems and/or subsystems.
  • Coordinate subsystem and/or system testing activities with programs and other organizations.
  • Perform test results analysis and prepare comprehensive subsystem and/or system-level evaluation reports that verify and validate system performance.
  • Write discrepancy reports and perform integration regression testing to verify/validate incorporated fixes to software, components, subsystems, and systems.
  • Windows and Linux skills in system administration and/or integration.
  • Experience in troubleshooting small to large-scale infrastructure (Troubleshooting includes activities that most System Administrators should have the knowledge to identify and resolve most common issues)
  • Ability to cooperatively develop integration plans/procedures from sources such as functional/performance requirements and stated technical capabilities, monitor the integration of the test resources, execute these detailed integration procedures, analyze integration results, and present the results orally and in written format.

Basic Qualifications:

Please note your updated security clearance and IAT/relevant certifications on your resume if applicable.

  • Applicants must have a current active Secret clearance which is required to start with the ability to obtain a top-secret clearance.
  • 9 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science or a related field; or 7 years with a Masters degree, or 13 years experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Must possess a DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (Security+, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA).
  • Must be a self-starter with good communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills and an ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • The candidate should have knowledge of or practical experience with DoD test methodologies, terminology, and previous test and integration skills.
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and work effectively and cooperatively with people within and outside the program.

  • Active TS/SCI clearance is highly desired.
  • Active IAT – Level 2 required (60 days after start date may be considered)
  • Network architecture and device knowledge are desired.
  • Scripting skills for data mining and formatted display of data are desired.
  • Experience within the Mission Defense realm and previous test and integration is desired.
  • Experience with operational systems (e.g., Aegis, Patriot), development systems (e.g., GMD, THAAD, Aegis), and off-the-shelf statistical analysis packages is a plus.
  • Network architecture, device knowledge, and scripting skills for data mining and formatted data display are a plus.
