Job description
Your Mission
As Junior Structural Analysis Engineer you will be responsible for structural analysis of assemblies belonging to our launch vehicles primary and secondary structures. From trading design concepts to sizing and validating design iterations and examining the impact of manufacturing deviations, you will play an important role in design decisions and pushing performance and reliability of our structures.
More specifically, you will:
- Build and refine FE models of mostly-CFRP launch vehicle structures
- Identify failure scenarios, potential for performance improvements and propose design changes
- Capture and analyze manufacturing influences and defects
- Take responsibility for the verification process of assemblies and components
- Collaborate with the testing team to define tests and instrumentation
- Write verification reports and support and conduct design reviews
Who you are and what you have
- Degree in Engineering, Aerospace, Mechanical or (Computational) Mechanics, or any other related field
- Experience with structural FEM and hand calculations, either on a professional level or in student groups or projects
- Experience with programming in Matlab, Python, Visual basic or similar
- Ability to assess and trade design risks
- Engineering intuition with reference to load paths, failure mechanisms and material characteristics
- Holistic perspective on development of structures
- Fluent English
Nice to Have:
- Experience using Hypermesh, Optistruct or Nastran
- Experience with composite structures and its manufacturing techniques
