Terran Orbital Corporation is seeking a(n) experienced Spacecraft Electrical Integration Engineering Manager at our Irvine, CA location. As a Spacecraft Electrical Integration Engineering Manager, the candidate will manage the electrical integration team in addition to being a contributor working within a multidisciplinary team to develop innovative spacecraft solutions for internal and external customers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead a team of electrical integration engineers to ensure development and vehicle maturations is carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Develop people, processes, and tools to support spacecraft electrical integration.
  • Provide guidance and support to the team, monitor program progress, and lead the identification and resolution of technical and integration issues during development or manufacturing.
  • Review and approve the work of the electrical integration team to ensure accuracy, compliance with technical specifications, and adherence to project timelines.
  • Engage with other departments to ensure efficient collaboration and successful, timely integration of systems.
  • Work side-by-side with the spacecraft design team to develop electrical system requirements, architecture, and subsystem designs for spacecraft missions. This involves selecting appropriate components, designing electrical interfaces, and ensuring compliance with technical specifications and safety standards.
  • Identify requirements, design, and modify detailed harness schematics to integrate a variety of electromechanical components and units.
  • Incorporate industry standards and best practices in the preparation of harness assembly instructions and test procedures.
  • Generate technical documentation, reports, and procedures for electrical system integration activities. Maintain accurate records of integration activities, test results, and modifications made during the integration development or maturation process.
  • Support assembly, integration, and test activities, providing engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejections, production support requests, revision requests).
  • Champion cross-functional, first-response teams to diagnose and rectify integration problems during testing and launch preparations.
  • Adhere to quality assurance processes and standards to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical systems. Participate in design reviews, audits, and inspections to verify compliance with project requirements.
  • Participate in technical reviews of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualification and Skills:

  • BS or MS in an Engineering discipline or equivalent degree.
  • 5+ years of functional management experience.
  • Experience with system integration, test procedure development, and execution.
  • Experience in electrical system architecture definition and design.
  • 5+ years of experience developing wire interface diagrams and creating detailed wire harness assembly and installation drawings.
  • Ability to interpret wire harness requirements and create, draw, and release schematics and wire list data packages.
  • Hands-on experience with wire harness manufacture and installation for space applications. Satellite experience preferred.
  • Experience working with manufacturing and quality methods, fabrication, or assembly processes.
  • A working knowledge of hardware assembly practices and debugging/evaluation of assembly failures.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Differentiators 

  • Understand vehicle-level systems engineering including communications, functionality trade-offs, grounding, and EMC strategies.
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD and PLM software.
  • Familiarity with IPC, industry standards requirements and acceptance.
  • Understands and deals well with rapid development cycles, ambiguity, and unexpected changes in direction.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office.

Salary Range $140,000-$190,000

Your actual level and base salary will be determined case-by-case and may vary based on the job-related qualification, knowledge, skills, education, and experience.
