Function
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Instrument Systems Engineer or Project Engineer to support our growing business of scientific instruments development for space applications. As a Systems/Project Engineer you will support the development of an instrument subsystem over the entire lifecycle of an overall space instrument project.
You will be part of the development team of a device such as a 3D bioprinter, a thermodynamical instrument, and/or equivalent projects for operation on board the International Space Station amongst others.
Responsibilities:
- Understand high level technical/scientific requirements and interact about them with external stakeholders.
- Translate the higher level technical requirements into design and development requirements.
- Manage the requirements and follow up on the technical baseline/scope of the project.
- Follow the design and development process and interact with all technical disciplines (mechanical, thermal, electronic, software…).
- Support the overall technical coherence of the project.
- Plan and execute system/subsystem level functional and performance test campaigns.
- Perform first order system/subsystem level assessments/analysis.
- Assist in the technical budget management.
- Support technical decision making.
- Write the related technical reports and support overall coherence of the project technical documentation.
Profile
- Masters’ degree in Engineering, Physics, or equivalent field.
- Knowledge about development of (space) scientific instruments is an asset.
- Experience in writing technical reports.
- Technical communication skills.
- Hands-on problem solving skills.
- Strong organization and planning skills.
- Willingness to travel regularly.
