SUMMARY

The position will ensure the operational inputs into the design process and coordination of design functionality are accounted for in the operational planning, training, and operations of the AxStation.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible, in coordination with the program, for developing the concept of operations for the AxStation vehicle, systems and subsystems.
  • Coordinating and ensuring user inputs into the design of the systems.
  • Ensure ops products are in sync with the vehicle design schedule and the appropriate inputs and outputs are coordinated and completed on time to support the entry into service for the AxStation which would include, but not limited to:
    • Concept of operations for minimal crew and ground interface
    • Hardware operating parameters – nominal, off-nominal, limits, etc.
    • Hazards associated with hardware and operational controls
    • FMEA/CIL’s as they relate to operations and controls
    • Hardware maintenance in flight
    • Limited life items and consumables
    • Human factors and crew interface for operability
    • Human health and performance and medical operations
    • Training hardware and systems
    • Payload interfaces and operations
    • Mission integration
    • Manifesting
    • Cargo integration and stowage
  • Other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university in engineering or science
  • 10+ years performing in role related to experiment science and cargo support, preferably for ISS
  • Experience in customer interfacing role
  • Experience across multiple portions of the product lifecycle (concept definition through operations and use) preferred.

 

Essential Functions:

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

 

Requirements:

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency is a requirement for this position.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).

  • Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).
  • Approximately 25% travel per year for job related tasks

  • Ability to understand the impacts of the outer space environment on spacecraft, research and manufacturing systems installed inside and outside of pressurized spacecraft modules
