Spaceline Tech Ops is seeking an accomplished leader who has demonstrated success in developing and leading highly effective teams that deliver strong strategic, operational, and financial results through operational leadership and problem solving, continuous improvement to develop systemic solutions, robust data analysis, and technology. The successful candidate will espouse Virgin Galactic’s (VG) core values of safety above all, bold optimism, straight up, insatiable curiosity, astronaut driven, and space for all. The successful candidate will be a servant leader with strong process/analytical skills, a bias for action, and the ability to partner with operational leaders to drive for results and continuously improve VG’s Operational reliability, safety and efficiency.

Oversight for the strategic development and execution of multiple areas to include:

  • Serve as a key enabler of Spaceline Technical Operations continuous improvement journey, leveraging a multi-level team of analytics and training professionals to engage with the business and deploy their talents to move system and divisional KPIs forward.
  • Lead operations, quality, and SIOP initiatives to improve/innovate performance in each functional area.
  • Develop a strong and diverse team and leadership bench; coach and mentor emerging and existing leaders to grow their career and impact at VG through process, analytics, and exhibition of VG’s core values.
  • Leading the performance management and improvement cycle for Spaceline Technical Operations (STO), tied to goal setting, monthly performance reviews, ad hoc analytics, data strategy, process design, and technology/tools
  • Lead a divisional data/analytics strategy to improve outcomes through better data, reporting, analysis, process and tool building.
  • Partner with team members from Flight Ops, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to deliver holistic solutions to STO that add value and deliver positive results.
  • Foster a culture of open/honest communication, transparency, and accountability.
  • Demonstrate management and development skills, ability to manage large projects, prioritize effectively, and communicate with stakeholders
     

Minimum Quals:

 

  • Embraces diverse people, thinking and styles
  • Consistently makes safety and security, of self and others, the priority
  • Bachelor's degree in management (esp. operations), engineering, finance, or other quantitative discipline or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years' experience in operations, supply chain, quality, engineering, finance, business, or related field required including proven budgetary planning and execution experience.
  • Excellent analytical, statistical analysis, project management and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with Theory of Constraints, Lean, Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies.
  • Proven leadership experience including leading large teams of professionals.
  • Highly proficient in written and oral communications and able to produce concise, relevant, strategically-driven documents and presentations for senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex processes within cross-functional teams.
  • Demonstrated experience using financial metrics to present value analysis at the department, division, and corporate level is required.

 

The annual U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is $123,200.00–$197,150.00. The base pay actually offered will vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, location, and experience and take into account internal equity. Other forms of pay (e.g., bonus or long term incentive) may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
