The Testbed & Simulation Product Line is a fast paced, highly dynamic, and growing organization of 120 people that play a vital role in providing mission-critical intelligence solutions by optimizing satellite constellations, processing data through its entire life cycle and developing reliable cutting-edge infrastructure for information dissemination across a global network and to 30+ Space programs.

Within these programs, you will participate in the design, development, verification and deployment of complex new software and hardware simulation systems.

The Testbed and Simulation (Tb&S) Software Product Line is looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer to take on the role as the Chief Hardware Engineer for the Testbed & Simulation (Tb&S) organization responsible for developing and maintaining space vehicle hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) systems. Seeking an experienced, creative, team-oriented Senior Staff Engineer to be part of our fast-paced team producing space vehicle testbed & simulations.

As part of our Tb&S Chief’s group, this person will direct hardware that is used by internal and external customers to create, optimize, and debug testbeds, simulations, models, and hardware interfaces that create digital twins of space vehicles. This person will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and develop innovative technical hardware solutions, implement new features, optimize existing designs, and fix bugs, while focusing on affordability and new business opportunities. This will require technical expertise in complex simulation products with the knowledge to tackle problems across the multiple product lines in multiple venues for various customers.

The TB&S Hardware Chief Engineer is knowledgeable in the following areas:
• Identify technical, cost, and schedule risks
• Integrate and test of embedded systems onto high-fidelity space vehicle hardware emulation platforms to facilitate qualification testing
• Identify staffing/resource requirements to product team management
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment to facilitate the exchange of information and creative ideas

You should bring to the table your simulation engineering experience, understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts used to develop and integrate products primarily founded on the reuse of existing hardware designs, and supporting Digital Transformation. Creation of all electrical conditioning, conversion and routing needed to convert software signals to real electrical signals for interpretation by the Unit Under Test.

This position reports to the Tb&S Senior Software Engineering Manager and will serve as the technical leader for software, electrical, Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGA), and project engineers.
Basic Qualifications:
- 10 + years of Electronics and/or FPGA Experience

- Advanced Circuit Design Experience

- Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex systems

- Experience with Embedded Software/Hardware Development

No security clearance needed to start but the ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance.

Preference for this requisition will be given to Space Employees
Desired Skills:
- Experience with iHawk Simulation Host, Analog Input/Output (I/O) Cards, Digital I/O Cards, Peripheral Component Interconnect Express (PCIe)

- Experience with 1553 Card, Inter-Range Instrumentation Group (IRIG), PCIe Kintex Ultrascale FPGA and custom FPGA cores

- Experience with Developing Proposals and Basis of Estimate (BOE)

- Demonstrated and proven ability to support multiple engineering discipline requirements and coordination of employee task assignment, etc.

Ability to Work Remotely: Onsite Full-time: The work associated with this position will be performed onsite at a designated Lockheed Martin facility.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week
Pay Rate:
The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, or Washington is $128,900 - $247,000 . Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.

This position is incentive plan eligible.
