Job description

a.i. solutions is looking to hire a motivated software engineer with experience in multibody dynamics and multibody trajectory design to support our Deep Space Trajectory Explorer (DSTE) software product.

DSTE is a specialized tool for space mission design in the multibody regime, including the cislunar domain, and is used by engineers at a.i. solutions and other aerospace organizations to support current and upcoming missions to the moon and beyond.

This role will focus on implementing back-end improvements in DSTE’s Java codebase, in collaboration with our team of experts who have been contributing to DSTE and our other space mission planning and operations software products for many years.

Our suite of products is kept modern, efficient, and enjoyable to work in through constant improvement by a development team that welcomes fresh ideas and new perspectives. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to embrace the a.i. solutions mission and work to continually exceed the expectations of our customers.

Essential Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Implement improvements and fixes in DSTE’s astrodynamics modeling features based on the team’s prioritized roadmap
  • Lead discussions on implementation strategies for new features and improvements
  • Participate in peer reviews of code to ensure that quality standards are met

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, aerospace engineering, physics, mathematics, or related field
  • Academic and/or industry experience with multibody dynamics
  • U.S. citizenship

 

Desirable Experience:

  • Orbital mechanics/astrodynamics and advanced mathematics (linear algebra, computational geometry).
  • Use of flight dynamics-related modeling/simulation and computing tools, particularly DSTE and/or FreeFlyer.
  • Java development experience.
  • Numerical methods (integration, optimization) and orbit determination/navigation.
  • Ability to quickly connect in-person and in writing, and to actively listen and perceive the needs, values, or opinions of others.
  • Proactivity in identifying and addressing challenges to include innovations that result in positive organizational impact.
  • Demonstrated leadership accomplishments academically and personally.
