As the Advanced Technology Chief for the Enabling Technologies and Programs Operating Unit, you will be responsible for:

The development of mature, disruptive technologies to rapidly field advanced capabilities for Space Based Sensing and Targeting, Space Domain Awareness, and Golden Dome. With a deep understanding and engagement with our customers and their challenges, this position prioritizes advanced technology development ready for immediate application or near-term transition, focusing on areas such as advanced focal planes, directed energy, hypersonic defense, resilient networking, and cybersecurity. This could include novel concepts in the areas of space-based tracking phenomenologies and discrimination, high-performance sensor algorithms, weapons guidance and AI/machine learning (ML) for space/ground applications.   This could also include rapid demonstration and prototype development of disruptive technologies to accelerate the deployment of advanced payload concepts. This includes, but is not limited to, developing and integrating resilient satellite constellations, advanced sensor modalities, persistent sensing, resilient communication, on-orbit servicing and manufacturing, AI for space situational awareness, and counter-space capabilities.  

 

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have an active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope, with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI approval/access.

  • 16+ Years with Bachelors in Science; 14+ Years with Masters; 12+ Years with PhD.

  • Phase B (Preliminary Design and Technology Completion) through Phase E (Operations and Sustainment) 

  • Experience with NASA or DoD experience

  • Systems Engineering Experience including end-to-end performance, reliability, risk assessment technical excellence, quality, safety and mission assurance.

  • 10 years relevant experience in the development of satellite payloads, buses, and launch vehicles.

  • Customer facing role experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active Polygraph is highly preferred.

  • PhD in Engineering, Aeronautics or Physics

  • Advanced Technology Development – Planning, implementing, directing, coordinating program plans

  • Focal Planes, Microwave Sensor, Processing Electronics, GN&C technology development

  • Pre-Phase A Mission Concept Development experience - focused examinations on high-risk or high technology development areas that enable mission concepts

  • Chief Engineer of a Space Flight Program

  • Independent/Failure Review Board Experience

Salary Range: $197,500.00 - $296,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
