Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a talented Engineer Quality to join our team in Apopka, FL. Apopka, FL is located near the Orlando, FL. surrounding area.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Support the creation and implementation of Program Quality Plans for opto-electrical components, sub-systems and systems, based on customer and internal specification requirements
- Develop, modify, apply and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished product.
- Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place and met at all times; you will devise and implement methods, procedures, and plans for evaluating the precision and conformance of products characteristics.
- Recommends non-conformance corrective action where necessary.
- Develop and maintain standards for quality, including operating methods, processes, systems and procedures
- Participate with corrective action or improvement teams and promote the use of data to assist in the improvement effort
- Preparation of first article inspection packages for internal approval or presentation to the final Customer
- Evaluate components and sub-systems against space requirements
- Recommend test methods, statistical process control procedures for achieving required levels of product Quality, and propose changes to improve system and/or process capability
- Reviews raw material, chemicals, and/or finished product data to ensure compliance with quality standards and applicable government regulations.
- Audits testing results to determine if product specifications are met.
- Engage with Quality Engineers, Engineers, Suppliers, and Customers as needed to improve data submittals.
- Collaborates with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor, and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met and quality standards are in place.
- Track, verify, and coordinate documentation in accordance with governing documents.
- Applies technical knowledge in industry standard quality engineering methods, interpretation of drawing requirements and applicable specifications & standards, and mechanical measurement & analysis.
- Proactively establishes and maintains technical competency in products, manufacturing and business processes, and related technologies.
- Coordinate efforts to resolve complex quality problems using sound problem-solving methodology – including through application of established root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action methods.
- Facilitates Material Review Board (MRB) process – including leading and participating in data gathering, analysis, and presentation activities.
- Establish trends program and maintain performance charts.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, or related STEM field with 2 years of relevant experience; (0+ Years related experience with Masters; 0+ Years related experience with PhD.)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET clearance. US Citizenship Required.
- Knowledgeable of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
- Ability to interpret Engineering Drawings
- Experience using product verification instruments (i.e CMM, calipers, etc) – CMM programming capability is a plus
- Solid written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Working knowledge in Quality Management Systems (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
- Experience in data analysis using Excel or similar.
Preferred Qualifications:
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE)
- Certified Six Sigma Green Belt, Black Belt
- Experience in RCCA; Continuous Improvement; and Process Engineering
- Experience in Space Mission Classifications a plus
- SAP Experience
- Strong background in design and/or manufacturing of electromechanical or electro-optical products
- Defense industry experience, including interface with government customers.
- Experience leading or working on Agile project teams.
- Active DoD Secret Clearance
