Maxar is seeking a Benefits Manager to lead a small team within the Human Resources department and report to the Director, Total Rewards. This is a critical role for the organization as the subject matter expert in benefits responsible for designing, implementing, and managing our benefits packages to ensure they are competitive, cost-effective, and in compliance with legal requirements..

This position requires expertise in the following benefit programs: health and welfare programs (such as medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability), absence management, retirement plans (401k), voluntary benefits, and wellness programs.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, leave of absence, and wellness programs
  • Collaborate with insurance brokers, benefit providers, and vendors to negotiate and manage benefit contracts
  • Evaluate and compare existing benefits plans to industry benchmarks and trends
  • Educate employees across all levels of the organization about their benefits options and assist them with enrolling or making changes to their benefits; handle employee benefit inquiries to ensure quick, equitable and courteous resolution
  •  Manage the annual benefits open enrollment process Monitor and analyze benefits costs and trends to recommend adjustments to benefits programs and processes
  • Maintain accurate records of benefits plans, enrollment, claims data, and payroll deductions in the Workday system.
  • Participate in configuration and testing of Workday system as it relates to benefits, absence, and integrations with carriers
  • Ensure benefits plans and practices comply with relevant laws and regulations; stay up-to-date with changes in benefits laws and regulations and communicate any changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Act as liaison between carriers and employees

Required Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Human Resources, Business, or related discipline
  • 6 or more years within the benefits/total rewards field with at least 3 years leading a benefits function
  • Experience administering retirement plans, specifically 401(k), and leave of absence
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle numerous projects simultaneously while maintaining high accuracy and attention to detail
  • Strong business acumen, with client-service and results oriented approach to problem solving
  • Treat highly confidential information with utmost integrity
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically about the broad goals of Human Resources
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present to a group

Preferred Qualifications

  • Global health and pension programs
  • Experience with Workday
  • Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar certification
  • 2+ years of people management experience

Our salary ranges are market-driven and set to allow for flexibility. Individual pay will be competitive based on a candidate’s unique set of knowledge, skills, and geographic diversity, with earnings potential commensurate with experience. The range for this position is:

$108,000.00 - $180,000.00 annually.


 

Additionally, this position is incentive eligible with a target based on contribution, company performance, and/or individual results achieved; the specific incentive plan and target amount will be determined based on the role and breadth of contributions.
