SUMMARY:  Our team is looking for an energetic and dynamic  Software Applications Engineer who will primarily be responsible for developing database driven tools to support Mission Integration and Operations (MI&O). This position reports to The Increment Logistics Senior Manager.  This role is onsite and will be based at our Houston HQ facility.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (

 

  • Partner with various teams within MI&O and collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather and understand software requirements.
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software solutions that interact with databases and connect to external programs through APIs.
  • Create and optimize database queries, ensuring efficient and reliable data retrieval and storage.
  • Coordinate with or IT and Digital Transformation teams to manage the database disaster recovery and backup plan as well as ensure connectivity the Axiom digital thread.
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle, from concept and design to testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Implement and adhere to SDL methodologies to deliver high-quality software within established timelines.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in software development, especially in the areas of database management, APIs, and integration.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for software applications, addressing bugs, issues, and enhancements as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience 

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
  • 5+ years’ application development experience in an enterprise environment or a combined equivalent of education and experience
  • Proficiency with relational databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++, or C#.
  • Strong core development skills and understanding of software engineering principles.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Experience delivering software in an enterprise environment.
  • Familiarity with performing work in an Agile environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Apps and Power Automate is a plus.
  • Experience with Appian and/or Alteryx preferred but not required.


 

Essential Functions

Work Environment: Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.

 

Requirements 

  • Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
  • Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.

Physical Requirements 

  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
