Spire operates a hybrid work model and this position will need to report to the Cambridge, ON office 3x per week. 

Spire is looking for an experienced Finance Manager to lead and manage the financial aspects of our Strategic Data Acquisition Program. Responsibilities will include budget, forecast, and management reporting, operational support for sourcing, costing, manufacturing and supply chain, adequate record keeping of expenses and assets, support of all decisions regarding strategic partnerships including the commercial incentives associated to deploying the Strategic Data Acquisition initiative. This role will report directly to the VP of FP&A and leverage and partner with other BU Finance Managers and Commercial Ops, Controllership and other business associates to achieve success. 

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and lead the monthly and quarterly reporting and financial planning requirements for the subsidiary managing our strategic data acquisition program. This includes full preparation of 3 key financial statements (P&L, BS, CashFlow) in US GAAP basis with trend and variance analysis commentary. 
  • Manage the entity monthly forecasting process to capture key expenses and cash inflows and outflows, as well as progress toward delivering the Strategic Data Acquisition initiative per our MSA, identifying risks, and opportunities to help manage to the projects goals and budget. 
  • Collaborate with the accounting team on the monthly close process including monthly account reviews, comparison of actual results to those forecasted/planned and identify any changes that may be necessary as part of month-end and quarter-end cycles. 
  • Oversee the monthly P&L review process that includes explaining variances to plan, providing insight on current and expected trends, and identifying areas of risk and opportunities. 
  • Develop in-depth systems reporting to ensure full compliance with revenue share structures and SLAs for the contract 
  • Develop and continually improve management reporting used to present to the Executive Leadership and partners 
  • Build strong relationships across all functions and areas within Spire and with external partners and maintain an open flow of communication. 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 7 years of finance experience 
  • Minimum 3 years of progressively complex financial leadership roles 
  • Bachelor's Degree with finance concentration. CPA or MBA preferred. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated success in leading finance operational areas (accounting, FP&A or supply chain) and influencing business decisions across different levels of the organization. 
  • Hands-on leadership style with great inter-personal and strong communication skills 
  • Exceptional presentation skills and the ability to convey a message that is understandable and relevant, linking business issues, financial results, and strategy. 
  • Skilled at persuading and influencing a broad spectrum of constituents at all levels, including senior management. 
  • Exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Ability to analyze complex business problems and make sound business decisions. 
  • Highly proficient at creating efficient and effective financial models, budgets, and reports and enthusiastic to train others to do the same. 
  • Rock solid technical knowledge of finance and accounting – including costing and pricing. 
  • Systems savvy, ideally with experience managing financial planning and reporting tools. 
  • Self-starter who is comfortable leading in a fast-paced environment and will question and challenge existing norms. 
  • Strong project management skills. 
  • MBA or Data Analytics formal education a big plus. 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills. 
  • Experienced using Workday Adaptive Insights and NetSuite ERP preferred. 

Final base salary for this role will be based on the location, skills, experience and qualifications.
