both public and private customers. We believe our mission is to further research, communications, and

exploration beyond low lunar orbit. With multiple NASA lunar missions in the making and additional

private missions on our manifest, we pride ourselves in supporting NASA, our customers and the nation in paving the way to return humans to the surface of the moon. Our world-class team includes experts in all spacecraft subsystems design, development, and test, on-orbit operations, and safety.

Description

Intuitive Machines is a Joint Venture owner under Space & Technology Solutions of the NASA Goddard OMES III contract. The OMES III team is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer in support of the On-orbit Servicing, Assembly, and Manufacturing 1 (OSAM-1) program. This position is located at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD.

About The Role

The Omnibus Multidiscipline Engineering Services (OMES III) Contract supports NASA’s Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate, located at Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland. The scope of the contract includes multidiscipline engineering services for the study, design, systems engineering, development, fabrication, integration, testing, verification, and operations of spaceflight, airborne, and ground system hardware and software, including development and validation of new technologies to enable future space and science missions. Programs currently supported include Joint Polar Satellite System program, and NASA’s Exploration and In-space Services (NExIS) projects division.

Managed by NExIS, OSAM-1 is a robotic spacecraft equipped with the tools, technologies and techniques needed to extend satellites’ lifespans – even those not originally designed to be serviced. NExIS is responsible for the design, engineering, development, test and operations of the OSAM-1 Mission through an integrated team at GSFC.

The OSAM-1 VDSU subsystem is reconfigurable from the ground, fault-tolerant, high-performance, low-power, and highly capable. The VDSU controls and receives video from up to 24 monochrome/color digital cameras and other sensors, acts as a video router, provides simultaneous JPEG2000 compression on multiple sources, and provides solid-state data recording functionality. The unit is radiation-hardened by a Virtex 5 FPGA and provides embedded processor support with high-performance external DD2 memory. It includes a bank of radiation-qualified and environmentally screened commercial ADV212 JPEG2000 video codecs, each including individual latchup current limiters, allowing for independent reset and reconfiguration. A space-qualified processor configures, monitors, and scrubs the Virtex 5 FPGA. VDSU provides video router functionality through a novel, high-speed, multi-channel interface that utilizes innovative cable skew management. Output is in the form of multiplexed, multi-channel, JPEG2000 compressed LVDS video. The VDSU possesses a bank of NAND flash memory, and the ability to store and play back compressed video from this memory.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of Bachelors Degree
  • Strength in C/C++ and Flight Software Development
  • Designs, develops, tests, and evaluates software used in space flight systems, includes the management of software specifications, analysis of software systems, coding of software modules, integra[1]tion of hardware and software systems, system verification and validation, and generation of related documentation.
  • Develop flight software for subsystems, such as: guidance navigation and control; command and data handling; telemetry and commanding; communications; and power.
  • Simulation software experience to conduct testing including fault protection and attitude control/knowledge performance monitoring.
  • Familiarity with operational aspects of other spacecraft subsystems including Communications, Thermal, Power, Instrument control, etc
