This role is a part of the Test & Flight Operations team, providing centralized support to business units with a focus on the design, build, and maintenance of the ground systems, test, and launch facilities across multiple locations.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers, you will develop external agency documentation required for executing launch operations on Cape Canaveral Space Force Station and coordinate range support for launch operations of Blue Origin’s spaceflight systems. This position will be the primary liaison between Blue Origin Launch Operations and the US Space Force. This position requires strong drive, attention to detail, organization, working long hours, and the ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and liaison launch operations with USSF and FAA, including development of external agency tasking documentation and all Universal Documentation System deliverables.
  • Ensure flight data/telemetry collection and relay operations success through coordination, tasking, and oversight of multiple USG and commercial support agencies.
  • Launch control room console operator with commitment of system readiness for flight data collection.
  • Develop and coordinate scheduling for local range requirements to support launch operations including weather support, frequency control, etc.
  • Manage Blue Origin meteorological and sea surface surveillance systems, coordinate and direct sea surface clearing activities, airspace management, and external entity involvement for launches.
  • Work with external entities to continuously improve launch operations in support of Blue Origin’s goals.
  • Develop and manage systems which support the planning and execution of launch site and launch operations certification activities for USG agencies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS degree in STEM
  • 2+ years of related experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Basic understanding of telemetry data transmission concepts and techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups, obtain accurate information, and make sound decisions.
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in high-stress, dynamic launch environments with quick critical decision-making skills while interfacing with highest levels of management.
  • Operate with integrity, earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with space radio communications and telemetry transmission tracking and collection.
  • Experience with launch vehicles, launch campaigns, space operations, and orbital mechanics.
  • Experience with US Space Force/NASA Range scheduling and tasking (Universal Documentation System (UDS) development).
  • Experience with US Space Force launch support operations, systems, and standards and/or commercial space program standards.
  • Experience with the FAA Air Traffic Organization and the National Airspace System.
  • Candidates should be able to work independently without significant oversight and direction.
  • This position requires demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective prioritization, and decision-making.
  • Experience with electronic procedure system development and usage.
