Job Overview & Responsibilities

  • Performing strength, fatigue, and fracture analysis for structural components.
  • Create analysis models, perform hand calculations, and have an understanding of analysis best practices to provide strength inputs and recommendations for new designs, installations, ground, and handling equipment.
  • Review and approve 3-D engineering layouts, 3-D models, designs/drawings and 2-D drawing changes for a variety of mechanical system components.
  • Make engineering design recommendations with consideration of thermal, mechanical, and pressure loading using appropriate material properties, configurations, safety factors, etc.
  • Support internal peer reviews, tabletop reviews, and formal design reviews as needed.
  • Support fast-paced design/analysis cycles and be able to evaluate hardware non-conformances to support production activities.
  • Participate in internal/external design reviews, and technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and may be expected to present analysis products at preliminary/critical design reviews (PDR/CDR).

Required Years of Experience

Minimum of 4 years of related work experience

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical field from an accredited college or university.
  • Fundamental knowledge of statics and mechanics of materials.
  • Understanding of analysis tools and methodology such as:
    • NASTRAN (Static, Modal, Dynamic and Non-Linear Analysis Solutions)
    • FEMAP pre/post processor
  • Ability to make design recommendations based on analysis results.
  • Experience analyzing structural components (machined primary/secondary structure).
  • General understanding of:
    • Material properties
    • Bolted joint modeling and analysis
    • GD&T standards and principles
    • Analysis best practices and underlying assumptions
    • Basic hand calculations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.

Summary Salary Range (for ULA - Denver only): $98,339.00 - $153,653.00

Please note that the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon a candidate's experience and qualifications, as well as internal equity, market and business considerations. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in addition to base pay.
