We are currently seeking an enthusiastic Environmental Health and Safety Intern for the summer. This role is an excellent opportunity for students passionate about EHS practices, looking to gain hands-on experience in a real-world, professional setting. The EHS Intern will assist in the development, implementation, and monitoring of environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. You will work closely with the EHS Manager and team to promote a culture of safety throughout the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in Compliance and Reporting:
    • Help ensure compliance with OSHA, TCEQ, and other relevant standards.
    • Support the preparation of environmental reports, permit applications, and safety documents.
    • Participate in the compilation and submission of EHS performance metrics.
  • Support EHS Programs:
    • Assist in implementing EHS policies and programs.
    • Aid in the development of training materials and conduct safety training sessions.
    • Participate in emergency response drills and safety inspections.
  • Risk Assessment:
    • Collaborate with EHS staff on workplace assessments, identifying potential hazards, and recommending corrective actions.
    • Support the investigation of incidents, near misses, and conduct root cause analysis.
  • Project Participation:
    • Engage in specific projects related to environmental sustainability, waste management, and other EHS programs.
    • Research new regulations and technologies that could impact the company’s operations.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Actively participate in EHS meetings.
    • Coordinate with various departments to promote EHS awareness across the company.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Must be currently enrolled in either a BS or MS program (or a recent graduate) at an accredited four-year university or college.
  • Willing to work in a hands-on, constantly evolving environment
  • Detail orientated, managing multiple priorities while maintaining focus towards a common goal

Desired:

Candidates should preferably have a focus in one of the following areas

  • Prior experience or involvement in the manufacturing or aerospace industry.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR.
  • Familiarity with TCEQ regulations.
