The current vacancy is for an opportunity in the Galileo Exploitation Programme Department which, in coordination with other departments of the Agency, ensures the continuous provision of the services provided by Galileo. The department develops new Galileo services enabling new applications and ensures the proper management, operation, maintenance, continuous improvement, evolution and protection of the space-based and ground-based infrastructure. It also manages the consistency between technical, planning, financial and risk aspects of all the Galileo exploitation activities and elaborates and maintains the Galileo Exploitation Plans.

The position requires permanent relocation to the Agency’s headquarters in the heart of Europe – Prague – a location with excellent connections to numerous major European cities. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Agency is looking to recruit an Operations Evolution Engineer who will be involved in the evolution of the Galileo System operations, and will in particular be supporting the definition and implementation of the System evolutions from an operations and service provision perspective (including, but not limited to, G2G) in all operational Galileo sites managed by the Agency. The job holder will be responsible for assessing the adequacy of the Galileo evolutions, and associated processes, for entry into operations and service and ensuring the provision of the return of operational experience from the exploitation of the Galileo System to the future system evolution.

The Operations Evolution Engineer's tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Monitor the operations activities related to the evolution of the system, such as the operational validation activities, and the readiness of the operators to perform such activities;

  • Assess the readiness of operational products, processes and System and Segment infrastructure, ensuring their readiness and adequacy for entry into operations and service;

  • Manage the operational readiness of both ground and space segments, and participate in operational boards/meetings;

  • Participate in the relevant engineering and design and reviews, and notably providing the return of experience from the service and operations of the current system;

  • Support the technical analysis of the architecture, the establishment of specifications and the validation activities for system upgrades to ensure coherence, compatibility and service continuity with the system in exploitation;

  • Support the preparation and evaluation of contractual changes for Galileo service provision related aspects, including but not limited to supporting new procurements;

  • Liaise with other departments, notably in the area of Engineering, Programme Control and Administration, to ensure the execution of related corporate tasks, such as planning, reporting, administration, financial & budget management, risk management;

  • Contribute to other tasks of the Galileo Services Exploitation Department as necessary;

  • Maintain an efficient and trusting relationship with project stakeholders, within EUSPA and with the relevant subcontractors.

The Staff Member may be required to remain on standby duty at his place of work or outside the place of employment outside normal working hours.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Professional experience and expertise

  1. Experience in the coordination and/or execution of space and ground segment operations within complex technical Programmes;

  2. Good expertise and background in space systems, preferably gained in an international environment;

  3. Experience in financial, procurement and contract management for space programme operational activities;

  4. Excellent command of both written and spoken English;
