The current vacancy will offer an opportunity to work in the Engineering Department which ensures the Agency’s technical leadership on all matters related to system infrastructure, service, and security engineering, and acts as the Engineering Centre of Competence. The Department is responsible for ensuring the robustness and security of the systems in operations, for developing the infrastructure of the EUSPA service facilities, for providing the operations and service requirements to new system developments, and for engineering new services and their receivers that ensure the wide usage of EU Space data. The Department interfaces with the European Space Agency as design authority of EGNOS and Galileo, and with the industry in charge of the evolution of the systems in operation and of the service facilities.
The Engineering staff are located in several sites and offices (Prague/Czech Republic, Saint-Germain-en-Laye/France, Toulouse/France, Noordwijk/the Netherlands, and Torrejon de Ardoz/Spain), and are supporting all missions of the Agency. This position requires permanent relocation to the Agency’s headquarters in the heart of Europe – Prague.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO
As a member of the Engineering department, the Cyber and Risk Security Engineer will be entrusted with the following main tasks and responsibilities for the space components of the EU Space Programme:
Plan and execute cybersecurity activities in an end-to-end system engineering lifecycle including definition of requirements, analysis of architecture, management of vulnerabilities, and penetration testing, in coordination with the EUSPA teams (e.g. Programme, Cyber Security Managers, Security Operations Centre Manager, Security Authority);
Carry out security risk assessment activities and elaborate treatment plans to mitigate identified risks according to applicable regulations and establish associated documentation;
Contribute to accreditation preparation by providing inputs to the security authority files related to the components of the EU Space Programme;
Contribute to definition and implementation of frameworks/standards, methodologies, processes, and procedures supporting cyber and risk activities ensuring a systematic, repeatable, and mature outcome;
Act as an interface with the European Commission, European Space Agency, industry/operators, and Member States;
Contribute to contract management, including planning and workplan definition and follow up;
Liaise with other EUSPA departments as needed in relation to the tasks above and notably in the area of Administration and Operations, to ensure the execution of related corporate tasks, such as planning, reporting, administration, financial and budget management.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Experience in one or more of the following fields in relation to cybersecurity activities:
security baseline definition;
security architecture analysis;
vulnerability assessment;
penetration testing;
security monitoring;
security risk assessment/treatment;
Experience in complex civil or governmental systems;
Experience in handling classified information, COMSEC material, and classified systems;
Experience working with public institutions and industry;
Experience in contract management and in particular with subcontractors;
Excellent command of both written and spoken English;
Required competencies
