As an Assistant Chief Engineer of York Space Systems, you will work in the Office of the Chief Engineer to assist in the product development process. You will help execute key engineering processes and drive integration across all of our engineering functions to ensure York delivers on its promise of affordability and agility without compromise to quality.

The ideal candidate for this role is a mid-career, highly motivated engineer that enjoys engaging in program execution as well as organizational development. With experience across the lifecycle of spacecraft development, you are a key resource for all programs and are able to help tackle a wide range of urgent engineering challenges. In this role you will help shape the operational philosophy of our engineering teams and strive for process standardization.

Responsibilities

Create and maintain standard engineering tools and templates for use across the department.
Identify common challenges across programs and facilitate collaboration of team members to ensure technical topics are addressed robustly and consistently.
Facilitate MRBs, technical peer reviews, and other cross-functional meetings.
Actively engage in the development and continuous improvement of engineering processes.
Review and provide consultation on all technical materials for customer meetings.
Facilitate capture of engineering lessons learned and ensure processes and design guidance tailored from industry best practices and key program learning.
Provide leadership to teams and guidance to newer staff members.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or a related field.
10+ years of experience in spacecraft design, spacecraft systems engineering, or other relevant roles
Possess excellent interpersonal skills, able to work effectively within the organization and convey decisions, direction, results, and conclusions in a manner meaningful to the audience.
Extensive experience in spacecraft production, launch, and operation including experience at all phases of the development lifecycle.
Experience in integrated software / hardware verification and test.
Preferred Additional Skills
Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.
Experience leading a government or military satellite program.
Contract and supplier negotiation experience is preferred.
