Job description

If you’re looking for a role that combines Backend development, satellites, and space infrastructure, you’ve knocked on the right door.

We are looking for a talented Backend Engineer to join our Ground Products team and help build cutting-edge space infrastructure. Your work will play a critical role in automating processes and ensuring our satellites are always ready to fly. In this role, you will:
- work with peers within Ground along with Flight and Space Operations counterparts to iterate on new features to automate hardware testing and software integration.
- link tests to mission requirements, ensuring comprehensive coverage and "test as you fly" reliability.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative technology, helping build modern automated space infrastructure where software is the centerpiece. You will develop our future tools and systems but also work on real-time issues on live missions, helping to solve problems as they occur.

Join us in making space simple for our customers by abstracting complexities and accelerating their path to orbit. Your contributions will help streamline and revolutionize their journey to space.

The stack we are using: Python3, Django, GraphQL, GitlabCI, Kubernetes, GCP.

*Research shows that while men apply to jobs where they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women and other marginalized people tend to only apply when they meet 100% of the qualifications. At Loft, we value respectful debate and people who aren’t afraid to challenge assumptions.  We strongly encourage you to apply, even if you don’t ‘check all the boxes.

In this role, you will:

  • Work on in-orbit and soon-to-launch missions
  • Automate and streamline the testing process of our missions to allow our space infrastructure to scale
  • Craft code that meets our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale space infrastructure.
  • Design solutions to best support our users

Be a team player:
  • Play an active role in selecting new technologies for the team
  • Work closely with the Flight and Integration teams based in Toulouse, Golden, and San Francisco
  • Be involved in our team growth to build a talented, diverse, and inclusive team (coding challenge, technical screening, meetups/events).

Must-Haves:

  • Python
  • Docker
  • API design
  • Version control (git) and CI frameworks (GitLab CI, Jenkins, Travis CI, …)
  • Web development backend frameworks experience
  • Curiosity and a problem-solver mindset
