Job Description Qualifications:

The Boeing Company is seeking a Mid-level Manufacturing Technology Analyst (Weld Specialist) to join the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) organization for Kennedy Space Center (KSC), Florida.

This position will support Space launch systems Core Stage Engine Section Integration at the NASA KSC Processing Facility and Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) based at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, LA. This position will be “home” based in Florida, with extended travel required to New Orleans, LA to support OTW production activities at the Michoud facility. 75% of the time will be at the NASA KSC in Florida and 25% of the time will be at the NASA Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans. Travel for training and other activities at a lesser period of duration and frequency will be required to ensure the employee has all the necessary training and point of contact to be successful at KSC.

The candidate must have experience in Orbital Tube Weld applications and associated equipment/tooling along with experience working with GTWA and fusion weld systems. Candidate will work on the factory floor throughout all stages of production to ensure successful build and of the core stage/EUS assemblies. Specific role will include operational equipment identification and oversee execution of orbital tube weld activities by factory operation personnel.

The candidate should have knowledge in applications and associated equipment/tooling along with some practical experience working with orbital tube weld systems and equipment. Candidate will work on the factory floor throughout all stages of production to ensure successful build of the core stage assemblies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversee of operations and execution of orbital tube weld applications and associated equipment

  • Candidate must have the ability to resolve complex technical problems

  • Help organize technical aspects of manufacturing development

  • Develops and authors new fabrication principles as necessary, theories and advanced technologies related to orbital tube weld

  • Develops advanced manufacturing solutions

  • Conducts research resulting in new product or business opportunities

  • Consults on lean principles and technologies for enterprise wide initiatives

  • Documents and communicates producibility best practices.

  • Identifies training needs

This position is expected to be 100% onsite.  The selected candidate will be required to work onsite.

This position requires ability to obtain program access, for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)

  • Capable of traveling 10% of the time

  • Willing to work 1st or 2nd shift on a rotational basis, as needed

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience with orbital tube welding

Typical Education / Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 6 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience (e.g. Master+4 years' related work experience, 10 years' related work experience, etc.).

Summary pay range: $81,600 – $110,400
