Here at The Exploration Company we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refueled in orbit, and which carries cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

In the frame of the commercialization of Nyx, we are currently executing several dedicated contracts for specific use cases and features to be developed on the vehicle. These future projects are being shaped right now and we are seeking a dynamic and highly skilled Future Projects Senior Manager to execute them while also to contributing to the definition of the future project's roadmap. You would play a pivotal role in managing customers and partners relationships, coordinating technical teams, ensuring project delivery within established parameters, and contributing to pre-sales efforts through proposal development.

You will be successful in this role if you are able to help us:
  • Before contract signature: support the business manager during pre-sales activities, and contribute to the programmatic and technical part of the proposals, making sure they are aligned with the team and company capabilities
  • After contract signature: manage the project, including interfacing with the customer and partners and coordinating the internal stakeholders to ensure the on-time, on-cost and on-quality delivery of the projects

As a project manager, you will be in charge of tracking the cost and schedule of your projects, making sure that the deliverables are aligned with the contractual commitments.

For simple projects, you will be expected to perform yourself some engineering work, being able to produce high level technical content in order to feed the projects early phases. 

For more complex projects, you will have the support of a system engineer who will coordinate all the technical aspects and manage technically the field engineers involved.

You will report to the Chief Program Officer, on the health status of your projects, but also to make sure with her that the proposal contents and the project execution are aligned with the overall strategy of the company, limiting as much as possible the defocus of the technical team

Key Responsibilities


In your capacity as a Future Project Senior Manager, your role will be continuously evolving, but day to day your duties will include:
  • Project Management:
    • Lead and manage all aspects of future projects from initiation to completion.
    • Develop comprehensive project plans, outlining scope, schedule, and resource requirements.
    • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meeting quality standards.
  • Technical Leadership:
    • Perform engineering tasks for simpler projects to maintain focus and alignment with technical teams.
    • Collaborate with technical teams to address and resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Customer Interface:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with clients.
    • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, addressing inquiries, and ensuring satisfaction.
  • Team Coordination:
    • Coordinate cross-functional technical teams to optimize collaboration and efficiency.
    • Foster a positive team culture and facilitate effective communication.
  • Pre-sales Support:
    • Collaborate with the commercial team to contribute to the development of compelling proposals.
    • Provide technical expertise during pre-sales activities, ensuring alignment with project capabilities.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify potential risks and develop and implement mitigation strategies.
    • Proactively address challenges to maintain project momentum.
  • Budget and Resource Management:
    • Monitor project budgets and allocate resources effectively.
    • Optimize resource utilization to achieve project goals.

What we would love to see from you


In the role of Future Project Senior Manager ideally, you will have the following:
  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • Proven work experience of more than 5-10 years in the aerospace industry (both project management and technical responsibilities)
  • Strong technical background with hands-on engineering experience
  • Experience in early phases at vehicle/spacecraft level, with good system mindset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in proposal development and pre-sales support.
  • Proven track record of successful project delivery.
