As a Technical Product Owner at SSTL, you will serve as the bridge between our business stakeholders and the technical (inhouse/3rd party) development teamsβ¦
Role to include, but not limited to:
You will be responsible for defining and prioritizing technical requirements, ensuring alignment with business objectives, and driving the successful delivery of technical products and solutions.
Key Tasks
- Product Vision: Define and communicate the technical product vision and strategy in alignment with the overall business goals.
- Requirements Gathering: Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather and document technical requirements, ensuring a deep understanding of their needs and priorities.
- Technical Roadmap: Develop and maintain a technical roadmap, prioritizing features, enhancements, and technical debt based on business value and technical feasibility.
- Feature Prioritization: Make informed decisions about feature prioritization, balancing business needs, technical complexity, and resource constraints.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including software developers, architects, quality assurance, and DevOps, to ensure effective and efficient product development.
- Release Planning: Plan and coordinate technical product releases, defining release goals, feature scope, and timelines.
- Quality Assurance: Define and validate technical acceptance criteria to ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and scalable solutions.
- Technical Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including user stories, feature specifications, and technical diagrams.
- Feedback Loop: Establish a feedback loop with business stakeholders to gather feedback on technical solutions and use it to drive improvements.
- Technical Expertise: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and optimization.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technical risks that may impact the successful delivery of the product.
Previous Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related Computing field (Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Systems, Applied Computing, or similar).
- Experience as a Product Owner or similar role in technical product development.
- Strong understanding of Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Deep technical knowledge and experience in software development, architecture, or related areas.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Analytical mindset with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
- Experience with product management and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
- A passion for technology and a keen interest in staying updated on emerging tech trends.
Key Skills
- Exposure to modern O/S (e.g. Windows & Linux)
- Developing and supporting IT tools in a business environment.
- An understanding of Software Development processes (e.g. Agile, Waterfall, RUP) and associated software development lifecycle challenges.
- User engagement - translating business needs into viable solution design.
- Experience of leading ERP implementations β (SAP4/HANA)
- Knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas would also be beneficial to the role:
- Web Application development (e.g. HTML5, JavaScript, ASP.NET MVC, Entity Framework/ORM)
- SaaS/Cloud based technologies.
- General scripting/programming resources for IT (e.g. C#, Python, SQL, PowerShell, XML, Tcl/Tk)
- Able to work autonomously and using own initiative
- Excellent inter-personal skills - both written and oral communications; ability to interface with customers and technical representatives
- Decision making and creative problem solving skills
- Ability to multi-task and deliver both immediate and longer term tasks
- Proven ability to deliver solutions under pressure and to tight timescales
- Able to demonstrate company mindsets and behaviours; Be accountable, Drive & delivery, Communicate effectively, Self-manage effectively, Work as one team
