We’re on the hunt for a Product Assurance Engineer on our Satellite Systems team at our Stevenage office.
MDA’s international footprint in the UK creates opportunities to work with some of the most exciting space industrial players in the country. Delivering all three business area capabilities in Geointelligence, Robotics & Space Operations, and Satellite Systems, our UK team provides support to our European-based customers while specializing in the development of advanced space sensors for exploration missions as well as space-based communication technology. As our presence grows overseas, so does our need for new ambitious team players to help us advance our place in the Universe and beyond.
Responsibilities:
- Manage product and quality assurance related tasks throughout the project lifecycle
- Prepare project-specific Product Assurance Plans and verify compliance throughout the entire supply chain (internally to projects and externally to suppliers & sub-contractors)
- Support parts, materials and processes quality assurance activities
- Participate in design reviews and customer/supplier reviews
- Support the non-conformances/critical items/change control processes
- Review of processes, drawings, procedures, test data, and inspection records to specifications
- Perform quality assurance tasks during Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Test activities in-house and at vendor’s facilities
- Support in-house Quality Management System activities and initiatives including internal audits, lessons learned process, continuous improvement and analysis of process and quality metrics
- Act as a key point of contact for all quality-related activities of customers and suppliers
- Support the development of the supply chain to meet project requirements including vendor evaluations, audits and performance monitoring
- Establish, document and implement quality control procedures to ensure the robustness and quality of manufactured and procured products
- Promote a quality culture and best practices across throughout the organization
- Determine quality improvement parameters by establishing statistical methods relevant to manufacturing processes
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in relevant engineering field
- 3 - 5+ years of experience in Product or Quality Assurance in a regulated manufacturing environment, preferably Spaceflight/Space Products
- Experience with the design, manufacturing, testing, qualification and delivery of spaceflight hardware which achieves contractual requirements
- Experience writing technical documents
- Experience with Quality Management Systems (e.g. ISO 9001, AS9100) deliverables in an industrial environment
- Experience using quality tools, methods and procedures
- Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following disciplines would be advantageous: RAMS, Radiation, EEE Parts, Materials and Processes
- Experience managing suppliers towards delivery of quality goods and services (Desirable)
- Experience of working with European Space Agency processes and projects and to international standards such as ECSS, NASA, IPC, JEDEC, MIL (Desirable)
- Knowledge in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Satellite/subsystem AIT
- Ground support equipment
- Electronic units (digital communications hardware, PCB, Integrated circuits, etc.)
- Manufacturing processes (soldering, coatings, bonding, etc.)
- Satellite payloads
