This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team of experts, you will share responsibilities for maintaining all facilities and equipment, including major systems (sprinkler and fire detection, security, electrical, communication, plumbing, and compressed air) and other critical equipment. This team is chartered with planning and performing preventive and corrective maintenance, and unplanned servicing of facility systems. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration requiring your dedication, commitment, and detailed attention toward Blue Origins' safe and repeatable spaceflight.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Support the continued use and improvement of the CMMS preventive maintenance program (Maximo) for our properties.
  • Perform maintenance and/or repairs of facilities and equipment in-house or serve as the focal point for contracted efforts, as necessary. 
  • Act as the general contractor on major facilities projects, performing functions such as soliciting and evaluating bids, reviewing work efforts, and managing schedules.  
  • Serve as an interface with outside system suppliers for security, fire suppression, elevator inspections, compressors, backflows, mobile equipment, fleet vehicles, etc.
  • Assist with the definition and expansion of Blue Origin facilities as necessary.
  • Coordinate with project leads on mobilization and demobilization of equipment with outside suppliers for the rental or purchase of equipment as needed.
  • Provide general technical and mechanical support on an as-needed basis.
  • Source, order, and confirm receipt of project materials.  
  • Help identify and acquire outside resources necessary for project support and expansion of Blue Origin.
  • Overhead Crane inspection support at various heights up to 80ft.
  • Direct skilled and unskilled staff in the maintenance of buildings and equipment.
  • Supervise and train employees that may specialize in several different trades.
  • Delegate assignments to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions and administer the organization's policies for the department.
  • Provide information for record-keeping, and management of supply and equipment resources.
  • Plan and schedule building and maintenance work, making modifications as necessary.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers.
  • Solve technical problems and keeps current of new products and techniques.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • This position requires at least 10-15 years of relevant practical experience in industrial facilities, industrial project management, and or construction management.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, capable of lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds unassisted for an extended period.
  • Knowledge of industrial facility infrastructure. 
  • Applicants should be familiar with OSHA 10/30 industrial safety standards.
  • Applicants must be strong subcontractor managers. 
  • This position requires technical and manufacturing skills, but also a creative and flexible attitude.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, excel, project, and PowerPoint programs. Experience with Maximo is a plus.
