Blue Origin's Legal Department is looking for a Patent Attorney.  As part of a hardworking and efficient team of diverse Legal specialists, you will be working with the coolest technology on Earth! This position reports to the Chief Counsel of Contracts and IP. Responsibilities include engaging engineers and technicians to identify and cultivate patentable aspects of Blue Origin's technologies, managing outside patent counsel on patent prosecution, contributing to the management of Blue Origin's patent portfolio, and providing intellectual property counsel on various commercial transactions.

Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctor and Bachelors degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or the equivalent
  • 6+ years of experience as a patent attorney, either prosecuting patents or participating in patent litigation (or a mix of both)
  • At least 3 years of private law firm experience, showing roles with increasing responsibility
  • Registered to practice before the USPTO
  • Experience with inbound/outbound technology licensing
  • Bachelors degree in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or the equivalent
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen our culture of inclusion
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

$138,600$203,280 USD

Benefits

Employee Benefits include: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave (must be employed at time of birth or adoption), short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program available after 1 year of service.

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays for all regular employees (including part-time), fixed-term, and interns.

Discretionary bonus: Employees may be eligible for discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
